In the hills beyond Chiang Mai in the village of Mae Kompong, we find ourselves harnessed up and donning rather attractive helmets on our noggins. The Flight of the Gibbon Experience is constructed of over two kilometres of ziplines, platforms and skybridges. Once you're up there, there's no coming down until the very end. In the tops of the rainforest canopy we zipped across gully after gully and over rivers at heights of 45m. We rapelled vertically down ancient trunks to suspension bridges below. The forest floor is filled with spindly coffee trees that the villagers grow. In times gone by, opium was the main crop in the area, but the King came in and stopped the production of opium.
