Welcome to the real world of teaching. Many folk envy us the long holidays but when you explain the 2 weeks to recover, the 2 weeks to go away for a break and the 2 weeks preparation needed for returning to work, they're not so sure. Another man's grass is always greener...as they say.
You seem to be making full use of your Saturdays, not frittering them away doing nothing different. That's a good idea. It gives you a change of pace and scenery. All the best.
Sounds like a truly bizarre Bazaar! All underground... an hour and a half to get out from the centre... wow! Maybe your Chinese friend will be able to tell you where it was? I have this wonderful Arthur Rackham-type image of a dark labyrinth of caves and passages, and gnomes with fantastical stalls full of strange knobbly things, and everyone down there somehow having pointy ears and ill-concealed wings... heeheehee! I know, it's nothing like that really. Just me being a bit too imaginative!
Ohmigosh, Shannon, you look so pretty! Your face has gotten so much thinner! Chinese food must be good for you. ^_^ Also, Shanghai looks pretty. I'm glad you had fun and made new friends.
I like the photos of the garden, particularly the little face peeping out from behind the dragon. I LOVE dragons. Glad you had a better return trip than the outgoing one.
Wow! Oh, what FUN... taking a bus to Shanghai, and feeling better, AND making good use of your German, all in one week!
I'm really pleased that you're settling in well, honey, and that things are going well for you.
I'm always hoping to bump into some random Dutch person and startle them with my language skills, but then my Dutch is nowhere near as good as your German. :D
Glad you're feeling on top of the world again - have a great time in Shanghai!
I'm a twenty-four year old woman, teaching English at Wuchang Experimental Primary School, in Wuhan, China. I've been living in China for a little over a year so far, and I still love it. Here you can find my (very sporadically updated) adventures living and traveling around China.... full info
