Riding Day 18: Left Roughwoods Inn Nenana, at a leisurely time (around 9.30) as we only had 80kms to ride into Fairbanks to fit the rear tyres we had pre- organised. On the way out of town we saw the tug & barge that our pool opponents mentioned in the previous post, take up the Yukon River. The barge is the size of a full sized ocean going vessel. Quite impressive. A nice leisurely ride on a smooth fast road with “standard” Alaskan scenery. Into Fairbanks (population around 32,000) which is a lot bigger city than we imagined with freeways, shopping malls and plenty of people around.
