The Cassowary Well done - we didn\'t see one - only the warning signs, we were beginning to think there wasn\'t any. I guess you are off to the lava tubes next. You are entering an interesting part of your journey.
Trees beautiful Trees Thank you once again for the interesting blog. Most of all, I just love all the tall trees and the feel of the forest which you capture so well. William looks totally in love with his collection! Paul we did not have the courage to watch the first rugby game until after the game was over. Funny! It just feels as if something is missing, maybe it's Jake White!
Lots of love, and missing you all.
Jeanette
thanks your professional reporting and photography is a pleasure to read and see we are halfway of our european holidays and had grat time in London with Eric Alison and grandchildren also seen amsterdam and now in a nice late summery switzerland have a good continuation love Kurt and Anita
Tropical Antiseptic Paul, first to stop the sandflies biting, a 50/50 mixture of detol and baby oil rubbed on you legs and ankles will stop them bitting. yet after the fact when in itching pain, Go the tea tree oil on all bites , cut and abrasions. yes it may sting a little, but stops infection...
bye the way, loving your blog, looking forward to taking my family around Oz soon...
I love reading about your adventures Alexa, I so love reading about your adventures and I am so jealous of the quality time you are getting to spend with your boys. Your photographs are amazing and I cant wait for you to get back so that I can hear all about your trip in person.
Give Paul my regards and look after yourselves.

Have you seen them before? Diary of a Wimpy Kid
All the best, Robert
PS. At the sign (1st bite) from a sand fly - move on - sometimes one hundred meters is enough but many kilometeres is better. And always ask around before you select your camp site.
Whales I have been going to Hermanus for the last 8 years and never have i seen whales like you guys have!! You really have been sooo lucky!! I will take myself off to Hermanus once again in October, hopefully to see plenty of whales and dolphins. Hold thumbs for me!!
Glad to see Quinn is on the mend, he has been a brave boy and I think his haircut is 'cool'. Boy! You guys sure have a lot of friends dotted all over Australia.
Lots of love

Double Shock! I'm so glad to hear that everything is OK. Watching a child succumb to anesthetic is an unforgettable, draining experience even if you know the operation is relatively minor. Quin is such a tough "little" guy. And those stunning photo's..............even loosing a few is so frustrating, but at least the majority were backed up! You still have a wonderful record of an amazing trip! Lots of love from all of us x
the adventures of quin-quin In hospital! My goodness that must have been tough. I hope he was able to play zingo or some such. Your trip sounds great. Looking forward to seeing you all again. Am working full time - still adjusting 3 months later. Office life is ...mmmmm, not really my thing, but am loving learning new stuff - so yin and yang.
lots of love to you all x natanya
the times of your lives! Alexa, it's always such a joy to read about your amazing adventures -- including the tough times (computer crashing and Quinn's op) -- which make it all seem that much more adventurous! So glad you didn't lose too many photos -- well done, Paul! Looking forward to the next instalment! (Kyra only weighed 24 kg when she was 8 or 9 years old. That Quinn of yours is a giant! Giggle!)
Such impressive feats Hi Alexa, I so enjoy keeping up with all your many exciting adventures. Loved this one about your hanggliding - so brave - something I've always wanted to do. Lots of love,Helena
adventurous! Hey Lexa, I'm so glad you went hang gliding. It's something I've wanted to do for years and good on you for letting Oliver go, how awesome!
Well maybe he and I can go when you're back in SA!?
As for the yin yang circles on the beach... are you sure they're not 'crop circles' in sand? Looks suspiciously alien to me!
Keep having fun... V x
Relaxing ar Byron Bay Hi,
Oliver you are so brave! Well done, I just loved seeing you in the air flying like a bird! The trees are just awesome and the feel of the forest must be the best. Alexa you have planned the trip so well, one minute in terrible weather and the next sun bathing!
Paul have you found the bird that flies backwards!
I am following you on map in the kitchen , you still have quite a way to go, but then you still have 5 months......wonderful!
Lots of love
Jeanette

I am an Aussie who has been living in Johannesburg for the past 11 years, with my South African husband Paul and our three sons (Oliver, 9, William, 7, and Quinton, 4). Deciding that it was high time our boys got to see my country, we have decided to spend a year travelling around Australia and are currently somewhere in this beautiful land, in our caravan.... full info
