Hello Teacher I can't tell you how much I've missed your blogs! What a wonderful start to my day.I can't say it enough how very proud of you I am!! You have such a wonderful way of making life work,no matter where you are.Sarah is going to really relate to "Teacher Michael" And as far as Jen goes. She still know's how to bat her eyelashes. And 9 times out of 10 it still works.Loved the stories about your students.I wish we could jump on a plane and meet them all.I joke and say their my Thailand grandchildren, all 50 plus of them.(Now,I can't wait to send their classroom Christmas gifts) I've always said Life is an adventure! I do believe you agree!
Keep enjoying, keep sharing. We love you teacher Michael.....xxoo Mom P.S. America needs to adopt the Loy Katong festival.
Mr Hong Everytime I read your newest blog, I think "Amazing" There's no way he'll top that! And then you post a new one that completely blows me away!!! I hope your 1st Bestseller book signing is in New York,I've never been there! I'll start saving,I think that it will happen soon. So,So proud of you! Love Mom (Your Proudest Fan)
Scuba Ron. I had to skip the Similians unfortunately. The 4 day live aboard I wanted to do was too expensive at this point of the trip. BUT...I just had an amazing day diving off of Phi Phi. The visibility at Maya Nui was 70ft plus and all kinds of creatures including a bunch of black tip sharks. Awesome day.
Oh Mike, what a great attitude about an unfortunate event. Next time, just for kicks, you should try asking someone to carve the Mona Lisa into a papaya. I'd love to see that!
Tube'en Glad you found Railay Beach. Phuket is a beautiful island, but if it ever needed an enema, Patong is where they'd put the tube. How's the diving - seen the Similians yet?
Small World Thank you for your comment Angela. It makes me really happy to know that this blog reaches people outside of my friends and family. Small world indeed. Should you ever run into Sovann again, you should know I made that name up. :)
Re: sitting on the couch reading your blog in 804 apt 5 Thank Knob Hill-ians. Miss you guys. I need to get caught up on the RB happenings. Im going to my new Thai home early next week, so we'll have to set up a Skype session soon!
Beautiful Hello Michael--
I actually live part-time in Sihanoukville when not traveling around SE Asia-- as my boyfriend is Khmer-- and I know little Sovann. After living in Sihanoukville for some 7 months, I've come to know many of the kids on the beach. However, I will always remember Sovann because he was the 3rd kid to approach me during my first morning here, back in April. He was the kindest, gentlest, sweetest kid around--I'd come to learn very soon.
I hadn't seen him since those first weeks in April, but we happened to catch eyes when I was visiting the Pagoda with my boyfriend during the past Khmer holiday.
I was ecstatic, and felt so warmed by his presence.
Even though the sad truth is that Sovann may never leave Cambodia, he is one of those warm, bright souls that will never leave my heart.
Thanks for your post!
Small world.
Angela
sitting on the couch reading your blog in 804 apt 5 We were just reminiscing on our RB experiences, which possibly pale in comparason to your southeast asain adventures, but still worth a good chuckle. WE MISS YOU! The fish channel isn't the same without you. Our life talks are missed. and someone now watches sports solo. Good luck with the new job. Save us a corner on your cot we'll try to be out ASAFP
Zoey and Logan Sarah said this blog was Zoey and Logans favorite. " They like to say Bum gun" Your are no longer Uncle Mike by the ocean. You are Uncle Mike without toilet paper!
Letting Go........................ Good to hear you've got that fundamental survival skill - letting go - of plans, stuff, and other unessential things. Life is a breeze when you can just walk away from a situation gone south with a smile and no regrets. Most excellent writing!!
Hello Mike Hope your adventure is better that mine was on my first experience near Cambodia in South Viet Nam. What an adventure the U.S. Air Force put me through. Please stay in touch you just never know when we go to the southeast Asia area. Enjoy you time away.
Regards, John Kelly
Thanks Sean. Makes me very happy to know that you enjoyed the Mr. Handsome entry, and also that someone other than my Mom is reading this thing. lol.

Oh' the places you'll go! Another awesome read! You have such a way of making me feel like I'm traveling right beside you!Let me know when you want me to send the second journal your way.So Proud of you! Love Mom and Dad
Pretty sweet Amazing stuff... I can't wait until you actually get a stationary place to live so I can come visit. Was just thinking about how funny it would be to walk around this place offering free, completely bullshit, tours... making up off the top of your head what the various structures were used for... like the kid in Slumdog Millionaire.
