Congratulations for having successfully completed your first day on the Camino... I'm amazed you found room at Orisson without reservations. Hopefully there will be someone who also speaks Japanese to give Saguro some advice like the backpacking transportation service between albergues. I'm glad to see you have time to write blogs. I sincerely appreciate it!
Amazing! Such a seemingly amazing adventure Lynda. Sounds like your having a great time, what beautiful and scenic photos.
I couldn't imagine going into something like that not knowing another person but I knew 100% if anyone could make friends along the way it would be you.
Keep up the great details of your trip. I quite enjoyed reading them and seeing your journey!
Love you and miss you lots.

buen camino Thinking of you -- wishing you health, safety, stamina, courage, strength and peace as you walk and think -- also dry socks! Blessings from Wolfe Island! Linda
Shy It's a good thing you are not shy Lynda. Most people would have found your situation untenable but you, as usual managed just fine. You are amazing that way. I hope you slept well. Love Craig

Spain is Spanish I should have advised you that Spain is not cosmopolitan in the language department. It's a large part of the reason I loved it there. Try to pick up a Spanish phrase book. It'll be useful. You'll get a lot more help from Spaniards if you attempt to speak the language! I'm glad the Norwegian guy helped you out! Also, if you're looking for deals, ask the British seniors. They're everywhere and they know everything. They'll give you good referrals for food and beds.
Buen Camino! Congratulations on finding that hostel even though your Spanish is limited. I do hope your information is correct about the train Irun to St. Jean. I've taken this train, and it's to San Jean de Luz on the coast. I did the Camino back in 2005, coming from France, and took a tiny, mountain train from Bayonne to St. Jean Pied de Port, which you need to start the Camino. If you do take this train, you can then take another up to Bayonne (Paris-Madrid Hotel) and continue from there. Bob C says there's now a bus up from Pamplona (nothing in 2005), so I'd go for this or even consider just going up to Roncesvalles/Ronceveau, a very worthy starting point. I met many people who'd begun in St Jean P de Port and had blown out their knees on the first day. Oh, I do hope it works out for you. Best wishes.
You can take a bus directly from Pamlona to St Jean... cheaper than the train. You should ask around when you get to Pamplona as there will be many pilgrims there to give you advice. You might even be able to share a taxi to St Jean. There is also a pilgrims' store in Pamplona... check out http://caminoteca.com/en/.
You can also get immediate advice from the Facebook page of American Pilgrims on the Camino (APOC)...just ask the question and soon you'll get many replies. In the meantime you can read through questions other had. There probably is a Canadian Camino organization on FB, too.
Yay!! Good luck Lynda! Looking forward to reading about your adventures. This dream was a long time coming. Breathe into each moment - truly a chance of a lifetime.
Wow! You have just started blogging and you already have 9 Followers... probably your friends. In any case, with that many Followers any blog you write with at least 500 words and 4 pictures will show up on the Front Page which is what people see when they go to Travelblog.org. I look forward to reading about your time on the Camino...inspiring me for my walk next year.
Take in the spectacular view of a Full Moon tonight The month of June's full Moon's name is the Full Strawberry Moon. June's Full Strawberry Moon got its name because the Algonquin tribes knew it as a signal to gather ripening fruit. Full Moon: June 2, 12:19 P.M EST. Know that I am admiring the same moon from 'home'.
A new adventure May your journey be filled with wonderful new friends and memories. I remember after each child I saw the world in the way they saw the wonder in the simple things. Share this trip with your grandchildren in mind and you will see more than most. No matter how many pictures we take it is the experience that speaks to us. Safe travels and may your blisters be few!
