After a long 12 hour flight without sleeping (just couldn't do it) I've finally arrived in Tokyo. It wasn't much of culture shock when I got off the plane. The airport is just like any other. I just remember it being really humid when I first stepped off the plane. I made it through immigration and customs with ease. The only interesting thing was that all of the customs workers were wearing surgical masks (b/c of the H1N1 outbreak). Wearing surgical masks is pretty common here anyways. My luggage was there as soon as I made it to baggage claim and my sister Maureen was waiting with open arms for us to jump on the bus for the 45 minute trip back to downtown Tokyo.
