Wow man This is cool man. You have been so many amazing places. From a photography standpoint, I can only imagine what it must be like to see this stuff in person. Stay safe man and keep enjoying it all and taking it all in.
oye, que pasa? wow Jeff, this seems like a really fun segment of your journey. A lot of the places and experiences you are describing are reminiscent of Humboldt lifestyle and ideology. I bet you had a great time chillin in the little hippie communes and meeting some of the locals in that area. Did you check out any noteworthy examples of sustainable living? Any places/demonstration centers like Real Goods in Hopland, or was it mostly smaller scale little farms? I'm always on the lookout for people who are actually implementing appropriate technologies and that actually know whats up. Its a cool common ground to meet people on. Well your pictures are great too, especially of El Bolson "the big bag" (?translation?) - it looks like paradise! I'm happy all is going well for you. Miss you, be safe, have mucho fun! P.S. - I'm totally gonna quiz you on your Spanish when you get back and I expect you to be able to teach me a thing or two, at least some cool new words they don't have in Central America... much love brother!
Pucon/Volcano Dude, I climbed that volcano a few years ago. Skied down it after looking inside and seeing real lava blowing up inside. Baraloche was a real pretty place, but Pucon was the shit. Enjoy!
You are something else! I can't believe how long you've been on this amazing trek...I commend you! I hope besides these awesome updates you're also keeping a daily journal!
I heard there were a couple more big earthquakes in Chile yesterday. So glad you're ok!!!
As I sit at my desk day after day slaving for the man in the City of Angels, you are being a modern day Christopher Columbus...I can't tell you how jealous I am, yet ecstatic for you! So glad you are taking the most advantage you can of this life you've been given :)
Stay healthy and safe my friend!
XOXO
Villarica Didn´t climb the volcano, been picking carefully touristy events, as i am pacing myself for long haul, do have magnify glass although it hasn´t been used much!! Thanks for following along
Tierra de Fuego Glad I got to see your silhouette the other day :D and talk to you of course. So one of the movies at the Banff film festival was super cool about a guy biking from Alaska all through the Americas down to Tierra de Fuego and I recognized a lot of the places you have been. He had a tandem bike and picked up people along the way to ride with him... I was thinking instead of hitch-hiking across Canada we should get a tandem bike... We'll talk about it later though. Praying for you. LOVE YOU!
I am really enjoying reading about you travels. You should seriously think about getting into the travel world as a guide or travel writer. You would be great. Thanks for sharing - enjoyed the pictures and your input.
Take care and be safe!!!
quake Since we seem to get these late, I see it was the 16th so we hop you were out of Chile for the Quake. Be careful Jeffrey it is a shakey world out there. Have fun, Ron and i
wow Wow Jeff, your adventures are so alluring... I wish I was there! I love your pictures, and I can't wait to see more when you come back to Cali. I miss you and I hope you are loving every moment of it! Take care and be safe and have FUN!
Good to hear from you Jeff!! HI Jeff,
I'm not sure you'll get this however, I haven't heard any comments from you about the music in the locations that you have been visiting. I enjoy a lot of the music that gets its origins from the Southern continent. Can you mention some of the music that is local to wherever you are and describe it and how the locals feel about it?
Thanks!
Randy
the west i found it interesting that you mention chile's love of "western" music and cinema. chile (and argentina, and most other latin american countries for that matter) has always considered themselves to be a western country, since they speak a european language, practice european religious traditions, and have a european outlook on life (as opposed to east asian, african, native american, musilm, or east orthodox perspectives). as a south american who's travelled around africa and asia, i can tell you that we are always perceived as westerners and nothing else. south americans find it condescending when americans think "western" is limited to western europe and anglo-america since, again, latin americans have always believed themselves to also be a western offshoot. after all, if latin america (and chile specifically) is not western, what is it? eastern? it's not about race or money, but about culture. it's an interesting subject to engage latin americans in, and i'm sure you'll get some interesting conversation out of it. anyway, enjoy the south and the rest of the continent. you've had a great adventure so far. cheers!
Yummy... This update makes me hungry and thirsty for the finer things in life :) Wine, chocolate and ABSINTHE!!
I love the bicycle parking at the winery...haha
Thank you again for the updates and pics...I love living vicariously through you from these!

Mendoza Jeffrey,
I have some fondness for Mendoza, having lived there for fourteen months. I passed through Maipu almost every day on my way back from the vineyards. You are correct, in a sense, that the population is over 100,000. The metropolitan area when I was there in the 70's was over 400,000.
