Nice pics & story Hello Keira and Hero
I was googling "Stalag luft III" seeiking information about the great escape and location of those events
Your account about your visit there and your Grandpa wartime experiences is captivating.
My Grand pa was a french war prisoner in Germany. Captured during the "phoney war" he spent 2 years there .
I think I have heard the RAF will build a replica camp around the ruins of Sagan. A couple of barracks, Mirador and barbwire. So the story of the "Great escapers" will not, hopefully, be forgotten.

long ago you visited in Zagan, thanks for that.
By 2009, much has changed in Museum and area camp.
Your visit was a special (POW in Stalag Luft 3, father-uncel been) or only for tourism?
I might not be exactly at the museum in the day.
I greet and invite you back to Zagan

stalag luft iii hello,
I too had a grandpa who stayed there around that time and wanted to go visit the camp. I am currently studying in Prague in the Czech Republic but was planning on going to Krakow tomorrow night. I was wondering if there is any way or how you traveled to this camp? Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

God Bless you both I am a proud granddaughter of a former prisoner of Stalag Luft III my grandpa 1st Lt. John C. Clausing Jr of the 446th Bomb Gr(H) 707th Squadron was shot down while flying in their B24 liberator on Aug.5th 1944.I am thrilled to see your pictures of the old prisoner of war camp.hank u from the bottom of my heart for sharing them..Got any others?I'd love to add them to my collection ...Have a safe travel....
India Also sounds like India when we caught various forms of transport to be taken to the supposed highest town in the world...forget its name but your description sounded frighteningly similar and the apparent death wish of the drivers a common element. Amusing in hindsight is all one can say and the sense that you cheated death....once again!!
Enjoy each safe moment thereafter....Great description.
TRANSFORMERS We all LOVE Transformers. Optimus Prime is excellent but I do love Bubble bee as well. Extreme envy as you got to have a photo next to Optimus Prime (even though it was only a cardboard cut out). Must also say...overwhelmed with joy that I know that there are others out there who are as geeky as me, just needing to have the last Harry Potter book. Geeks UNITE!! :-D
Amazing Must say that it is as though I am experiencing the trip with you women as I read this beautifully worded blogs. Can feel the excitement and almost touch the surroundings. Quite marvelous. Enjoy yourselves. Keep on, keeping on. :-)

Your ride sounds like my ride from the Thai border to Angkor Wat. Except that my ride included having the car towed by a tractor across a flooded road and one runned overed sqealing pig. Otherwise, quite similar.
At the moment it sucked, but now I got the story about my scariest car ride.
The adventures of Hero and Keira.
A blog for our families and friends, with lots of photos and tales of our travels, so that they can keep track of us wherever we go...
