This morning we woke up to the ship actually rolling and were able to feel the movement of the ship through the sea. The night before, we had still been inside sheltered waters and it was more like being on a lake. Also there is a melodious swishing background noise as the ship methodically plows across the ocean, pushing aside what they called small waves with occasional whitecaps on the surface. Walking past the pool there were distinct waves in the pool water as the ship rocked back and forth sloshing the pool water like you could slosh water in a shallow pan. Arrival at the Ship The day started early with a 6:15 AM flight so we had to leave the house for the airport at 4:00. The airport was surprisingly busy for that time of day, but all went well and our flight boarded and left on time. The flight was not too crowded to Minneapolis and we arrived on-time. The connection to Vancouver was more crowded but it too went smoothly. Having gained two hours in time zones, we arrived late in the morning. Luggage was collected and we went through Canadian customs. The cruise company collected us and our baggage and transported us from the airport to the port, where we went back through US customers before boarding the ship. North America September 16th 2009

This is kinda of a test to see if the blog works. We are busy packing and keep thinking of new things to take and deciding not to take other stuff. I'm sure we will forget something and I'm also sure that we will bring stuff we do not use. Today we got a call from our travel agent confirming the upgrade on our stateroom to one with a balcony. We knew a upgrade was possible but figured it had not happened. Apparently they wait until the last minute to do the upgrade.
