Satara Rest Camp - KNP. We left Olifants early the next day and started to drive to Satara Camp which was another 130km away, we saw more animals on the way and wild birds. We stayed the night in some more African style thatched huts and the next morning had to get up really early to go on a sunset drive and had to get up at 3:30am!! We saw lots more animals on this drive and the beautiful African sun which is quite different to the sun you see in Europe, so much larger. We saw lots of Wildebeest, rhinos who crossed the road just in front of the vehicle! some ground Hornbills which are at risk of becoming extinct, Vervet monkeys, tortoises, hippos and we heard the lions roaring but couldn't see them! We ... read more

The next day we left Orpen Gate camp and drove towards Olifants rest camp which was 100 km away, it took us 5 hours to get there! We stopped quite a lot on the way to look at the animals and birds. By the side of one of the road tracks was a 'kill' which had hundreds of vultures around it, hooded vultures and white backed vultures, quite amazing to see them. We arrived at Olifants later on in the evening, this time we stayed in small round African style huts. Olifants has an amazing view over the Olifants river where you can see the hippos in the water below and some crocs! We went out for a night ride but didn't see much apart from a Spring hare which is like a small kangoroo.... read more

Saturday Orpen Gate - Kruger Park We left Cape Town Saturday !morning and arrived at the airport next to Kruger Park after 3 hours flight. Our first stop when we arrived in the park was called Orpen, we stayed in a lodging called Cheetah cottage, at night you can see the wild animals like Hyenas come up to the fence and other wild life. We had a barbecue or 'Braai' as they call it in South Africa. A Serval also came close to the camp fence, this is really rare to spot. The big '5' animals in Kruger are the Lions, Buffalo, Elephants, Cheetah and the Rhinoceros. ... read more

Thursday & Friday: Thursday: we headed up the west coast to a place called Langebaan which is a nature reserve and has a huge lagoon. It's very peaceful and there was no-one else around. We had lunch in a nearby restaurant called Gelbeek which is in a really old farmhouse built in the 18th century and then went and sat on the beach and had so many gulls and other birds come and stand right by us. On the way back we saw a snake on the road which was so fat since he must of eaten something, it was quite gross! Friday: First we went up Table Mountain which is one of the oldest mountain ranges in the world, older than the Himalayas. The view from there is incredible of Cape Town and it's bay. ... read more

Tuesday & Wednesday: Tuesday: We headed off to the wine region to a very small town called Tulbagh which is traditional old Dutch style houses, it's very pretty, and they have lots of peacocks that roam freely in the main street. The town was destroyed completely by an earthquake in the 1970's but was rebuilt exactly as it was before, they also have lots of peacocks that wonder around everywhere in the main street of the town. Wednesday: We headed down the coast to a town called Simon's Town, Simon's Town is where you can find the African penguin as they come to breed in the summer months (December to April is South Africa's summer) onto the beach called Boulcer's Beach. The beach is so lovely, very white sand and the penguins which are also called ... read more

Western Cape, Cape Town, Hermanus Sunday - after a really long journey (15 hours) we arrived in Cape Town airport from Paris and dropped our bags off at the guest house we were staying in in a place called Sunset Beach village which overlooks Table Mountain bay with an amazing view of Table Mountain. We then went to eat in Blauberg at a place called On the Rocks, I took some pictures there of the view from where we ate so you can see where we were. The next day we went to go and do some whale spotting in a place called Hermanus, we were lucky to see 2 whales in the Bay, I also had a picture taken of myself beside a real life size whale so you can see how big these creatures ... read more

We arrived at Ali's friend's house on Friday evening and had a really nice Chinese take away and then went to bed. Ali's friends lives in a converted barn which is really pretty, it's down a country lane in a place called Sulham, I'm not sure you'll find it on the map but it's worth trying. Ali's friend has 2 horses or mares who have 2 lovely foals and her parents have riding stables near by with some really lovely big horses and tiny ponies, some of them are called Shetland ponies and are really cute. We spent most of Saturday afternoon getting the house ready for the party that evening and we made lots of pumpkin soup and then carved out the pumpkin Jack O'Lanterns! People arrived later on in the evening and the costumes ... read more

Minigolf, or miniature golf, often called crazy golf in the United Kingdom, is a miniature version of the sport of golf. We went to play this game at a course in Redwood City CA. We played course number one which had 18 holes. There were a lot of different holes - some had ramps, hills, obstacles, and one even had us go through a cave! I felt like a spelunker. Spelunking is also known as caving by some people in the US. It's a recreational activity that people do to explore different caves. This one is not a real cave - but it was still an adventure! After we played golf we went into the game arcade and played a few games such as skee ball and I even road a gaming motorcycle with Tyler. ... read more

On Thursday, October 7 Tyler's mommy picked Branden and Tyler up from school and took us to her work office called Oracle. It is a cluster of tall cylinder buildings made out of glass and is located in Redwood Shores. Redwood Shores is a waterfront neighborhood on the San Francisco Peninsula in California. It is located on the eastern edge of Belmont, but is actually part of incorporated Redwood City. We went into one of the buildings and got to ride up to the 8th floor in an elevator. Once we arrived we visited with employees who were working that day. ... read more
