my memories Farah and John,
This is about the land I have lived all my life and this article brings nostalgic memories. It also lets mee see how and an outsider would look at a land from a tourist point of view. The real Ooty and Coonoor is to be seeen in its villages and countrysides where human encroachment has been less. Anyway thanksfor letting me walk memory lane!

Photos! Great! I wish I could have photographed the figures, they're really the highlight. Other temples we've seen have also had the most amazing things inside, but they're generally holy or delicate so not photographable and we have to be content with an outside shot of the building. I'd love to have some photos to help remember them
I've been there too ;) Good to see the places that I recognize. When I was visiting Shilin, I was told that in the old days it was considered the main wonder of the world. And it is still beautiful... Regarding Bamboo's temple monks figures: when I was there (a while back), photos were permitted, so I've got a few picture to send to you...
I will be there one day Farah and John, this certainly THE post I've been waiting for. And it was well worth the wait! I knew a bit about this place (it is still on my list of places to visit), but what you've shared opened a few things I even could not imagine! Now I absolutely proud that I've decided to vote for this place as one of the New 7 Wonders of the World (http://www.new7wonders.com). I cannot wait to see the rest of the pictures from this place and hear more about about your experience...
Whats the chance? One in a million?!! so i'm sitting at the computer with my girlfriend, Jen, and we need to create a blog site for our travels to Asia (flying out to Bangkok tomorrow). I google 'travel blog' and TravelBlog.com comes up - this seems to be a good match I think to myself.... we surf the site for abit to look around at peoples blogs - lets look at Asia, Camboida (cause thats where we are going!). I scroll down the page, looking at titles and names and come across 'FarahAndJohn'. "Wait a minute i say to Jen, my cousins names John and his wife is called Farah - it couldn't be....?!" And the rest is history :) Hi John and Farah!
Happy birthday! Hi guys, been following your adventures and fantasizing about not being in central Pennsylvania, and I'm beyond envious. Enjoy the last few legs of the trip and happy birthday, Farah!
Saying hey Hey guys! The Boots and I are sitting here on a weeknight whilst I negotiate a fine deal on eBay - a tactic I call the "drop ship from Malaysia special". Like your parcels, we will see if I actually get the shipment. Like Jenny said, it's vicarious living for us - so keep adventuring and the like. On the weather front, our temperature finally doesn't resemble yours - for the first time in months we dropped below 0 deg. C. I can actually use the Ice Skates I got for Christmas without also having to purchase the "Nike/Bauer Global Warming Wetsuit", a device that has been introduced this year to help those that love their hockey cope with the slush like conditions we are experiencing. Sounds like you are having tons of fun. We're watching. Rock on. Steve
Happy New Year Farah & John, wishing you happiness and health for the New Year. The pictures of the lit palace in Mysore are absolutely beautiful, what a great way to spend the holiday. Many thanks for sharing your journey with us safe travels and I look forward to future posts! Take care, Dawn
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year We both wish you a merry x-mas and new year. What an amazing way to be spending x-mas 2006 and the turn of the new year!!
Your photos are fantastic, keep them coming...living vicariously through you.
(still no snow in T.O.)

Happy Holidays!! Hey guys, hope you're having a most wonderful time in your travels. Such incredible pictures and marvelous narrative. Just wanted to drop you a line wishing you both a happy new year and safe journeys. We can't believe there's really only six weeks to go?
Dig the beard too John!
Cheers,
Aaron and Debra
Update on Toronto Nice to see you guys are glowing up the screen! Have to say that after I saw John lose his mind at the Raptors game that I am sure that he will have no problems dancing in a Bollywood movie. Leafs are on a 7 game losing streak - Toronto is a beaultiful scene (per normal at Christmas). Jenny and I are thinking about you a bunch, and are vicariously enjoying your sites and adventures - keep the pictures coming. Steve
I have just caught up on all your travels. You two are brave and really seem like you have good heads on your shoulders. That should alleviate your parents' stress a little. The scenery and adventures sound wonderful. I hope when you get home to hear a little more from you but your blogs are so detailed. We have not travelled to India but would like to, so your advice to others will be so valuable. Keep safe, enjoy and John I hope you are feeling better and Farah, I don't think you can take a bad photo. Take care
Regards Carol
latest Sounds like you two are having a truly unique and wonderful experience! Can't wait to talk about it in person when it's over... and John, if I had a baby, and you were wearing that hat, and I didn't know you, I'd let you hold him/her as well! ;)
Hi John and Farah, I too am really enjoying your journals; they are a great escape into a glimpse of the great experiences that you are having. The pictures are fabulous and the journals provide a great perspective of your daily discoveries; including the 10 rupees bananas :o). Wishing you safe travels and I look forward to reading more. Take care.
No camel spit?! Honestly, it was almost disappointing considering the reputation. Though they did make a nice "Mmmeeeeengh!" to complain as they were being saddled. And the breath was like salad gone bad (brown water in bag). Stay upwind.
Happy Hi Folks,
We are enjoying the blogs. I loved the sign on the wall behind the woman who are doing laundry...save water. I guess that is a problem whereever you go.
A floating palace.....certainly would keep company from just dropping in to see you;however, once they arrived, you may be stuck with them for awhile.
The camels seemed to have a ridge on their backs. That must have cause sitting problems for the two of you.
Continue to enjoy your time together.
Love MARGAR
