Vancouver,B.C. Can. Love your journals! Keep having a great time. When I was travelling/working my way around, my route was similar to yours. I loved the freedom of going where I wanted with no particular schedule to follow. I guess that's why it took me just under 3 years to get back home! Best of luck to you both. Japan was awesome. I too stood out, being 5'6", blond hair and blue eyed, I always had a camera pointed at me. They loved fair girls. Fiona must attract quite crowd at times with the young men and you with the ladies. Keep those blogs coming, they are great reading.
Spiders and snakes and crocs I have enjoyed following your travels in Australia.
I often wondered if the stories of spiders/snakes/crocs/sharks/sporpions etc in Australia are perpetuated as a ploy to make sure only tourists with an adventurous streak come our way?
Happy travels :)
C'ARN the mighty EAGLES!! Shaggy, nice to see you like the Eagles!!
GOOD choice Mate!! I am born and bred in Fremantle but when Freo Dockers joined the AFL in 1995, there was no way I could abandon the mighty Eagles and Join the Freo Dockers Supporters.. lots of my friends did, but there was something inside me ''that just could'nt do it'' I love the Eagles, and I am so PROUD that our wonderful coach John is with us today, he was once our MIGHTY CAPTAIN and now our brilliant COACH.."How perfect is that?"
I sincerely hope we are in the GRANDFINAL this year 2005 !!! because that would give us an awsome BUZZ for ALL US DEDICATED WEST COAST EAGLE SUPPORTERS!!!!! all the best-cheers LIA - LiA

NZ and Cars. Good idea renting a car - I bought one for $1400 (nz$) - everything was going well for most of the North Island - and then it blew up - literally, engine, metal, smoke, spread out across the road. Cost me a fair bit in the end. Least with a rental car it's a fixed cost and no surprises (I hope). Good luck on your road trip - NZ is an awsome place - hope you both like tramping!
Fiona and I started this blog in September 2004 when we decided to take a break from our jobs to go tour some of the world with a bag on our back and some money in our pockets.
We had an incredible time, seeing some beautiful places and meetings some nice people along the way, we started in San Francisco and our last destination was Bangkok, in between we visited Hawaii, New Zealand, Fiji, Australia, Korea, Japan, China, Vietnam and Laos.
We were armed with a 1.2 megapixel camera at the time, no mobiles, no WiFi, just good old fashioned books and the occasional internet cafe. The trip w... full info
