Cruising up Highway 1 along with many other tourists using the ‘Open Tour’system has revealed Vietnam to be an absolutely fantastic country. There are disadvantages of this transport system - principally that it takes away a lot of independence and there is pressure on you to stay in hotels of the company’s choice. However the complete absence of any need to faff around in bus and train stations is very appealing. So, in just over a week we have stopped in Mui Ne, Nha Trang, Hoi An and we’re now off to Hanoi. The beaches have been superb, most notably the Cat Bai beach here in Hoi An which is huge, white sanded and uncrowded.
