Pics Enjoying your blog and pics. Looks like you are having a good time. your movies and pics are coming through fine. Long train ride and that was the fast one. Hot and bad bathrooms. Enjoy...
YEPPERS - they are duck heads! Who is this? Megs? Lo? Or another of my travel companions to China! Only a visitor to China would probably know this! The meal was delicious by the way!
VERY tasty! Wish you had been here to share it with me. That was in Beijing. I am now stuck (well somewhat - too tired and hot to go find the bus to town) on the college campus so no food like that here! I can't wait to go to XinYang. I will look up our mom and pop cafe - hope they are still there! And our egg in the hole experts that hopefully haven't become made into a chanin that have little orange trailers - lol (the food is still good though).
Luck and Safe Not words that are often in my vocabulary. I have been plagued by bad luck - computer crashing (though it is working now), room key doesn't work on a regular basis, I am sharing my room with a visiting rat (well at least it came and visited and ate some of my bananas - no more food in my room), I am soar from doing too many exercises with students . . . Nothing drastically bad tho - well not sure, maybe the rat is . . . don't like the thought that it may be in my room with me. :> ( And safe - well now that's just NOT FUN! LOL
Thanks for the good wishes though - always good to hear from you.
HEAT! It is much hotter here than in Beijing although per Steve Ray it is all just HOT! LOL
Most of the time a breeze or even a bit of a wind blows in Nanchang. And there is lot of greenier on the campus, but it is VERY hot. I took 31 students running/walking at 7am this morning (they don't know it but they are helping me to train for my two half marathons in September) for about 20 minutes. We were all soaked when we were done. No A/C in the rooms we use in the morning, but maybe we will use some air conditioned rooms in the afternoon. I am in an air conditioned room right now! Class starts in 30 minutes. We will be doing a 60 minute run at 7pm tonight. We shall see how that goes!
AMEN! Yes my two young teaching companions learned that first hand this morning! : > ) I believe I am almost used to it by now! It takes FOREVER for things to get discussed and arranged in Chinese and then things change! Plus we have an age group included in the mix we hadn't planned for - so lesson plans also change! It is the Chinese way I do believe. So true - it wouldn't be a teaching trip without MANY changes in plans. : > )
Mixed emotions I enjoy your postings so very much and at the same time feel so distressed. I want to be there! Thanks to your descriptions I will be able to visualize your experience.
Just call me gimpy I will have to call it providence that I decided not to head to China this summer. I could never get through the train stations with my gimpy foot. Walking a block is still too much. I will look forward to each of your posts, always wishing I was there.
So sad to hear you are still down and out! PRay said something about surgery or a cast or something???? How are you doing? Really miss you being here, but it is good you aren't here with a bum foot. It has changed and things are a bit easier, but still a lot of walking and stairs! You wouldn't believe the changes in the train station - still some escalators that don't work, but soooo much better! Love and miss you, Linda
As you had seen there are many beggars along the prosperous streets.Every time ,I saw them ; there is a crossed feeling of sympathy and hate because a few of them are not reall beggars and you can know it from there apprences . can a poor beggar build them up stronger than the givers ? They can support themselves through their own hard labor with their strong bodies. However ,they did not. And the biggest pity is that some ignorant, illinformed and greedy "beggars"push their little kids into the wrong orientation.I hate this .
thanks, LInda Thank you , Linda, thanks that you have taught many things about these days and I learnd a lot for about 10 days~~~
I am not very shy, I want to be the "volunteer" in the class, and I remrember NO CHINESE , ONLY ENGLISH!!!!!!!
Thank you give me so much, you will be my teacher forever~~~~
