Are you ok? Dan - Bill, the Cougar, and I are getting worried that you haven't posted since crossing the border into Mexico. Please post so we know you are kicking it up in Baja.
Cold Sleeping Not sure how this went down, but you should always have fresh dry clothes to put on in you are going to get into your sleeping bag dressed. Don't know if you are going to run into that problem again, but if you do end up in say, Lake Titicaca or some other ungodly high elevation, keep that in mind. It makes a big difference. Also, you can boil a quart of water and put it in a nalgene bottle and put that in your sleeping bag with you. Between those two tricks I made it through a -5 night in a 15 degree sleeping bag pretty comfortably.
Fun to read Well guys, this has been a fun and interesting summer for this old woman who loves to travel but can no longer due to my health. Your adventures and misadventures have been so much fun and I love the pictures. I could not sleep tonight so at about 3am I was reading your latest blog, had to stop and make a cup of hot chocolate becuz I got so cold thinking about your sleeping in the tent in single digit weather. Be safe and keep blogging, I will think of you all heading south as it starts to get COLD here in Dee-troit.

Hey guys!! Sorry to hear one of ya got a little scraped up:(, guess people can be just as unhelpful on the road back home as they are in Korea. You are currently in one of my hoods, love the Columbia Gorge...my parents are just down the way in Grants Pass, OR...if you need a place to crash, it's 30 min. from the California border, far southwest...free:) Hope you love the drive down the West Coast, it's soooo beautiful!
We're missing the best part of the story What was Weiner up to when he \"came back the next day around noon\"? I feel like we're missing the best part of the story.
Buena Suerte Stumbled across your blog, what a fascinating journey so far. Too bad for the troubles in PG, but at least you are back on the road. I have traveled from Alaska to South America and know you will have an amazing trip. p.s. love the name Leche.
You go guys!!! Can't believe this latest adventure with the blown engine and finding a replacement that a truck driver can bring in. The gods are with you. Hats off -- Al
Breathtaking countryside Bryon and Dan, looks so crisp, clean and clear, doesn't look that cold, good time to be in Canada, who are the older people in the pic, how is Leche holding up, I thought she was with family, be careful, be safe, stay together and watch each other's back. love, mom
Dogs gone wild Leche is a rock star but it must be somewhat of a relief to drop her of with the rent's & not have to worry about her. Tink & Toby looked for her for a couple days after Y'all left. They would run around the house& check the yard to no avail.
Blame Canada Trip you'll always remember--too bad about downpour though. Hope you tossed wet gear--stench, mildew can't be so good. Leche is as cute as they come. Keep it safe! Linda
Update Hi Bryon, I'm loving these updates, I think you've inspired me to maybe use Travelog, I'll see. I can't believe how expensive USA seems, $100 per night HOSTELS!!! Bloody hell, no wonder Americans seem so rich us Scottish people, it's because they're so used to paying a lot more. You could get a 3-4 star Hotel Edinburgh city centre for $100 per night. Most hostels would be about $25 per night.
Maybe your next trip should be Scotland ;-)
We leave Gwnagju in 4 weeks, to continue our World Tour, and will hopefully end up in Dubai around April 2012.
We plan to tour North America 2013, and eventually end up in South AMerica teaching, leading up to Brazil World Cup 2014.
Looking at yoru prices, it looks like we'll need to save a LOT or camp a lot !!!
Keep the excellent writing going and safe travelling.
I hope our paths cross again.!
Best of luck on your journey! Thank you for stopping at our shop on your way through Milwaukee - wishing you the very best on your adventure! Safe journey!
Perfect guest Dan & Bryon were a delight to have in our home. Anyone that has the chance to put them up for a night or 2 would be a fool to pass. The bring joy with them wherever the ride. - SAF-T
Thanks for stopping in. Hey Guys,
Thanks for swinging by my place. It was a pleasure to blow off work Friday and help out in any way for your journey. Too bad I wasn't able to make it out Friday in Cleveland for a few drinks but from what the blog say's it was maybe for the best. Just gives us more the reason to get together in Colorado this fall. We wish you guys the best of luck. Keep the funny pic's coming.
Good luck,
Bill Olexsak
Dan and I are riding Kawasaki KLRs from the Washington D.C. area north and west through Canada to Alaska. Then we will ride back down through BC to the Pacific Northwest. We will meander through the American West into Mexico, and down through Central America and into South America. We will probably go all the way down to Ushuaia before driving back north to Ecuador. ... full info
