Wow...where do I start? It would be simple to list dates and dry facts about me but that would not be very interesting. I will first try to answer the question that even I am puzzled about: WHY AM I BLOGGING? When I thought deeply about it (for about two seconds), I realized that I have couple of reasons.
1. I have been in the travel industry for all of my adult life and I travelled a bit. I had to see for myself (in hard print) which countries I have already visited and how many are still on my bucket list. This bucket list is getting longer by the way ... Shouldn't this be opposite?
2. I have been a travel counsellor for about 10 years and then a college professor for (still counting) about 28 years, teaching travel and tourism courses at Toronto's Humber College. Now I am thinking about retiring from a full time teaching but pondering what the dickens I will do with all my spare time? Hence, blogging. It will take me years to figure out how to blog in any coherent way, how to set up my "trips" and "blogs" and upload photos, and find all the country maps and flags to go along with my trips.....etc, etc. Definetly this will use all of my "spare time"!!!
3. I hope to share my experience and wisdom (where did that come from???) with the similar minded travel bloggers who share their wonderful experiences and tips. I am amazed what a wonderful blogs are on this site and hope to learn everything I can from the real experts.
Now the "dry stuff"...more about me.
I was born in the communist Poland back in the last century and immigrated to Canada as a 14-year old shy and intraverted teenager. English is my second language and I know that I am notorious for using wrong (or not at all) articles which to me are totally useless. I almost started a petition to remove them from the English language... My mother tongue does not have articles so it is (still) very hard for me to used them properly.
I apologize to all my English teachers- (they really tried!!!) and to my readers who might stumble upon my blog.
After high school, I completed Tourism and Travel diploma program at Humber College and BAS at York University. I am happily married to Richard for the last 36 years and we have two great children, Renee and Andrew. Renee is married to a wonderful man Brandon and they gave us two most delightful and gorgeous granddaughters, Kylie and Adelynn. Andrew on the other hand is not even close to settling down even though he is approaching his 30th birthday. He's got the travelling bug and now resides in Australia. Australia is on my bucket list so one day I am hoping to visit him....
About 11 years back, Richard and I went on our first cruise (25th Anniversary) from Rome to Greek Islands to Croatia, finishing in Venice. Since then we were hooked on cruising. Few years back I decided that when I retire from teaching, I will go back to my former profession but as a cruise expert and will help people to navigate to their dream cruise. I am happy to say that I have already achieved a Master Cruise Consultant (MCC) level from the international cruise association (CLIA) which is CLIA's highest accreditation level.
I will try to organize my past trips in chronological order (if my memory serves me right) and will blog on the future trips. My first blog will be this year (July 2015) with our Italy + Adriatic cruise + Slovenia / Slovakia / Poland trip. We'll see how this blogging will progress...
Thank you for reading...
