Today we had to get out to a bank to pay our tourist card fees. We all decided that we would just walk there since it couldn't possibly be that far. Well, it was a good hike and we were pretty tired when we did find the bank! Upon entering the bank, there were about 30 other people waiting to do their banking. We had to take a number to be waited on and then had to wait for about 25 mins! It was nice to sit down b/c we were tired!! Once we took care of our banking business, we decided to catch a local bus to our corner. For 2.60 cents for all four of us .......what a bargain! Once we got back to our "neighborhood", we were all famished and looked for a ... read more

We left Lake Morena RV Park on schedule this morning at 10 am. We got waved through the border without any big problem. The Brits had to turn in their visas at the Amercan Immigration Office which was a quick stop for the most part but since we had already gone through with our rig, we really had no where to park so we just stopped in the center lane since it was not at all busy. Dave followed us in his rig while Isobel was taking care of their visa business. Within minutes, here comes the police with the lights on. I was certain this would be our first ticket! He was very nice and we explained the situation and that we would be leaving momentarily to get on the highway for Ensenada. He said ... read more

Yesterday, Feb 3, we left Quartzite and headed south. We decided to go past Yuma and stop near Campo just north of Tecate. Last night we stayed at the Morena Lake RV Park which is nestled up here just outside of San Diego. Very nice park. We were very surprised to pass a high school called Mountain Empire High School. We had to laugh because we cannot see how this little place could populate a secondary school! The trip here showed us a lot of variation in the terrain. Just out side of Quartzite we began to see more Saguaro cactus again and then just miles later sand dunes!!!! Rving continues to be very popular in these parts and they have all the toys to play on the dunes!! We are still amazed at the number ... read more

We are leaving here tomorrow morning with the destination of El Centro in California where we will spend the night and then head on to Portrero just a bit north of the Mexican border near Tecate. We plan to cross in Tecate but will get our papers and insurance in order in Tecate before heading south. Our plan is to be in Ensenada on Monday afternoon. Today Mike and Art went golfing again today in Parker at the Emerald Canyon. Mike took the camera last time, but the memory stick was not in it!! So he made sure that he had it today. It was quite cool this morning for golf but it warmed up later on. Today it was about 68 degrees but the morning and evenings are cool. We are really looking forward to ... read more

Yes, another day in Q!!! We had hoped to be gone by now, but we are still waiting on the folks from Sedona.....not sure if they are going to work into our schedule. We have been waiting on them for too long. In the meantime, we have met another couple from England here in Q who were looking for others to head down the Baja. Mike and I were walking and came upon a message board and saw their notice looking for someone with whom to travel! We called them, met and visited so they are now going with us! We are thrilled and find them to be very compatible. Isobel has never had smores so we are treating her tomorrow! We plan to head to Yuma on Friday, spend some time getting our insurance, pesos ... read more

Another day in Quartzite. Lots of RVers have left but more will be coming in for the next show which is the Craft Show that is starting on Tuesday. We started the day by visiting the Traveling Memorial Wall here in the little city park here in Quartzite. It was quite moving. Mike located a high school friend's name who served and died in the Viet Nam War. The Wall will be here for a few more days. We learned that the wall will be visiting Traverse City in July. I have some pictures posted here. Mike and Art are golfing back at The Emerald Canyon on Monday. I will be alone here w/o any power! Well, maybe Mike is going to show me how to get the generaors started so I can watch my shows! ... read more

Greetings and Salutations to All! We arrived here in Q. on Friday early afternoon with our FUNCTIONING generators in tow. This dry camping is new for us. What it means is that where we are parked has NO facilities---water, sewer or electric! So with the generators on, we have all the conveniences but we have to be careful of what is running ! Once we were all set up and the generators were on, I decided to fire up my laptop to catch up on email and such. Well, for some reason UNKNOWN to me, Mike stopped the generators and b/c I had no surge protection, my power pack got fried. Thankfully my laptop is fine and that I have access via this crap Dell! LOL. So another $100 bill......power adaptor should arrive on Tues...... We ... read more

EDITORIAL NOTE: I received a scathing email from the new owners at Sandbar resort asking me take back my negative comments. We found the campground to be adequate and did mention in an earlier post that the place WAS being renovated and was under new management. I apologize for using the word the "pits" in referring to the campground. Yet another beautifully sunny day here in Parker, Az on the Colorado River. No breeze today. We got up and waited for the sun to warm up the area a bit and headed out for our walk. We discovered that this campground is next to a place called Fox's which boasts that it has the oldest drinking establishment on the river!! Yes, of course, we checked it out later tonight and had a brew. Before that we ... read more

We finally gave Sue and Art a break and left their place this morning around ten or so. We are now in Parker, AZ just south of Lake Havasu at an RV park on the Colorado River. The scenery here is amazing as well. It continues to be cool here and breezy but there is NO snow here if you are wondering. There was some in the Phoenix area. I just do NOT get this weather at all! Anyway, we are back in the RV again. Got things back in order and it feels great to not be living out of a suitcase ! The park is OK. It is in the process of "changing management" so it is a little shaky at best. At one time, it was probably a really neat place. Used to ... read more

Another beautiful day here although it was a bit windy. I went for my 3 mile walk and it was a little tough with all the hills! After lunch we decided to go down to the Lake Havasu Landing and take the boat over to California to the casino and to just tour around the area. It was sooooo cool and windy down at the Ferry landing. When we went to purchase our tickets, the ticket guy told us that they may not sail b/c of the wind, that the ferry was on the way back and the captain would decide when he returned. So we went to the little shops down there (more crap!!) and then learned that they would not be sailing b/c of the weather. We figured the captain just wanted the afternoon ... read more
