Easy Riding with Duc Hi Guys- I just wanted to say that this February I went on a 6 day tour with Duc and its so cool to see him again on Traveblog! He's great, isn't he? Well I see you had a blast with him. Enjoy your time in Vietnam-it goes by so fast. P.S. I love the Colbert Report too!
Love Your Blog All the blog entries have been wonderful. I am vicariously enjoying your adventure. You really impart a sense of being there. Thanks for sharing it with us.
Amazing!!! What an amazing journal, I have read this one with great delight and made notes on where to go etc when we get to Saigon in December. Have a fantastic time - Nikola
Great Journal!! I don't know either of you but but feel like I do already!! Your journal is great and makes me look forward to our trip to VN in December even more. Have a great time. Nikola
Siem Reap will not disappoint Dear Jeff, just want to let you know that Siem Reap will not disappoint. Just remember to pack loads of memory sticks if you are doing digital shots or rolls and rolls and rolls of film if you are doing it the "traditional" way. 8 days will be about right if you are going to spend time taking photos. Have been to Siem Reap twice - last Christmas and then again in Jan this year for my birthday treat to myself. Am planning a 3rd trip, maybe this weekend. Trust me. You will LOVE Siem Reap :-) Later!
Earth Day Hey Rog and Amy!!
We love your travel journal!!
I thought I would write you a quick note being that it was "Earth Day" the other day and I was thinking of you. I cannot believe how much you have done so far, what a great trip! I especially loved the addition on the toilets of Japan - it's like I reading lifestyles of the rich and famous.
So here I am in Cincy, looking for a new job (another story) and trashing pop cans, burning paper and doing everything I can to go against everything that is right about earth day while thinking where in the world is Roger and Amy? When I check out this great site. I cannot believe how much you have already accomplished, you must be having the experience of you life. We may be joining you soon, I hope you have room for the four of us. Blake is upset that you ate worms, he is a big worm harvester these days. Keep up the communication and pictures and we will keep in touch. Don't drink the water!
Great Journal Thanks for the great information on Siem Reap and the Angkor temples. I was especially pleased to read your review of the Villa Siem Reap. I am traveling to Cambodia for the first time in late June and have booked a room at the same guesthouse. It sounds like I made the right choice. I will be there for 8 days so I won't have to keep the frenetic pace you did around the temples. I am hoping to make some excursions to the surrounding country side during my stay. I read that the Villa can arrange bicycle tours. Did you do anything like this? Once again, thanks for all of the great information. I will be traveling alone and being a photographer by trade, I can only imagine the number of photos I will take in such a majestic place.
Cheers,
Jeff
no place small enough Rog,
I'm glad to see we have an understanding on not leaving Amy in foreign countries. It's only natural to get the urge sometimes, but I really appreciate you fighting it.
hysterical Oh the adventures of Monk stalking...notice how they all have cats? Glad your visit with Tun worked out, she is wonderful. Also, I heard Vertigo was awesome and designed in a way that would never get approval from any US zoning board. Miss you. E
the fun of travel! finally i got round to checking out your site. i'm impressed with the range of countries you're planning to see. i'll be even more impressed if you actually stick to it! enjoy the fun of all the changes and variety that you'll encounter. make sure you tell me when you are in my part of the world as I'll definitely fly out to see you guys!
Toy We met Toy in exactly the same way....a friendly face in a sea of taxi drivers. He was our guide around Chiang Mai for 3 days.......a perfect gentleman....he and his sister drove us wherever we wanted to go, and some places we didnt but glad we saw.
If you're ever in Chiang Mai.....keep an eye out for him!

As to the food there....perfect.....Sunday evenings the streets shut and they hold the most fantastic street market you could ever wish for......red curry chicken and noodle soup was to die for!
Slurpees? Rog, Tell me you had a Slurpee at the 7-11 Hut! Your blog rocks harder than Warrant ever did, no matter what people over there might say! I learned on Wikipedia there's a big Warrant fan base over there...you know how factual that is, so watch yourselves -- you don't want to come back to the US as Warrant fans. They might not let you back in!
(FYI, this comment took a strange, quite unintended turn...)
Smorking, and no doing so Every once and awhile, I look down at my little dog, and firmly tell her "No Smorking!" She wags her tail and agress not to smork.
Food And Stomach Issues We have been to Tulum (Yucatan), Mexico City, Loreto (Baja) and Roger has been around the Guadalajara area. Every time - every single one - we came away with pretty severe reactions to the food or water regardless of how careful we were.
When we arrived in Thailand, from the rather antiseptic isle of Japan, we expected similar conditions - the water is generally unsafe to drink, the food is not preserved or refrigerated like in the US (vendors may carry chicken or pork around for hours before heating it up to serve, for example) - however to date we have not had so much as a blip. All the food here is freshly prepared (for the most part) and everyone is careful with the water. Whatever they do here sanitation-wise it is superior to what we have experienced in Mexico. (Keep your fingers crossed!)
