What no silly pictures ? Andy and Danielle - I was most disappointed not to find any silly pictures of you standing behind headless statues at Angkor like we did at that site in Vietnam ! SHAME ON YOU
Reply to Scott Hi Scott - thanks for your msg - I'm afraid I can't remember the name of the trekking company in Muang Sing - but it's very easy to find as it's on the main street of pretty much a 1 street town and is the largest trekking outfit. They're next to a company called Ecotrek or something similar. Very strict on responsible trekking, they charged $35 each for a party of 6 (max 8). If there are only 2 of you, it cost $47 approx. as cost obviously drops the more there are of you. This is for the 2 day trip. I'd recommend the 3 day trek tho as you cover the same distance in more time! Have a great time - I'm hoping to head back there now. Cheers, Andy
Getting Prepared for Thailand Andy - Browny was right there is no injury, you are just preparing the way for your time in Thailand by getting your legs shaved, the rest of the process to be performed when in the country
Hi Andy
Great read. I'm heading up that way in a few weeks and was inspired by your trek in Muang Sing. I want to do something similiar. Could you tell me how you organised the trek and how much it cost? Thanks very much.
Cheers
Mick
You're back.... Andy, you're back. Was expecting a call with a ransom demand any minute there.
You're most interesting blog so far for me, must have been the war and waves, but I feel I must pull you up on one point.
Whether you'd had a crash helmet on or not I find it hard to believe that the wind would be "blowing in your hair" as you've only got a bit more than me.
Also, I hadn't realised that there was a Great Vietnam Run - surely there's a reason for the feigned broken ankle. If you're on crutches let Danielle have my email and I'll give her some tips.
Anyway, must dash. I'm off to buy a hat ;-)
Hi Ellen Hi! Thanks for your msg - glad you're liking the blog. I saw the KL-Oz blog - bizarrely I've been emailing that company for a while and have now booked the trip - but thanks v much for letting me know :-) Sorry I haven't emailed you in a while - will do in next few days! Cheers, Andy
Beer Lao.... Wow, that blog just changed my day sitting in front of the computer at work! Great stuff.
And Beer lao - just the thought of it still makes me laugh.
Hey Andy, loving the photos as always, esp the sunset one . Dani just text me to tell me you had updated (actually I am textin her off net and reading your blog at the same time!). Gona read through the blog through the course of the day. Managers are going to catch me. One thing - where are the photos of you and Dani? A big cheesy one of you both next time, eh? All the best. Safe travelling.
Thanks Hi Leigh, thanks for your message - glad you like the blog. Laos is a great place to travel and I can't wait to explore more of the country - I hope you manage to get back there someday! Cheers, Andy
Enjoyed the blog Hi, I'm an Aussie, living in Canada and longing for Laos! Enjoyed your blog and will continue to live vicariously through you until my time comes to return to Asia. You write very well and I am interested to hear about your travels as you have hit many places I missed. Good inspiration for next time. Anyway, keep enjoying your travels and thanks for the great read!

Andy I am super impressed with your photos!! I am at work romanticising about travelling. I see Donegal got a mention in your previous comment, curious. Was talking to Dani today, I am so jealous. Lucky her (and you!). Enjoy!
RICE TERRACE Met Andy on the rice terrace,we were watching said dancers to my recolection Andy was offered the nice looking girl on the right but like the gent he is he declined have a safe trip Andy good luck regards JIMMY
Shangri La Funny to think of you visiting somewhere that reminded you of Lost Horizon. That was such a good book wasn't it. When I think of how long it took me to get round to reading it and then I couldn't put it down. I see the Rasa Sayang in Penang (where we bought the book)has had a major facelift and is now a very swish resort hotel. I bet you don't get chocolate put on your pillow every night like we did there in the places you are staying at now! Love Mum
Graphic and fantastic Andrew, your descriptions of experiences and scenery just keep getting better and better. So much so that the descriptions are out doing the photos. Onward and upward. Go for it! Christmas card on it's way to Donegal. LD
We're not fools You can't fool us you know. I'm reading these updates and I can tell that you're not enjoying yourself! It's just not the same without those mind-numbing spreadsheets is it? Still, I'm glad to hear your soldiering on and putting a brave face on it all ;-) I'd pay good money to see that TV clip, time to hit google.... LOL
Impressive stuff Hi there, Met you on the bus at the start of your long journey to Saigon... Great site with some fantastic photos. Will click back on to read more when we have some time but it looks a good read!
In 2007 I fulfilled a life-long dream by travelling overland from England to Australia without taking a single flight.
Travelling allows me to indulge in my passion of photography and so far I've been lucky enough to win photography competitions in the Daily Telegraph and Guardian newspapers. I have also been short-listed in The Times travel photography competition and I have had an image included on the National Geographic Daily Dozen website. This blog was recently recommended by the Lonely Planet in their column in the Observer newspaper. I have now set up a website to showcase my fav... full info
