my question Hi Mandy and Griff,
My question is: Are your travels causing you to be more thankful for the comforts and conveniences of American life or to become uncomfortable with the relative lavishness we enjoy (and in many cases, take for granted) in the U.S. of A.? What are your thoughts on this? I know many of us think about it, but you have a global perspective now that most of us don't. Love you!
Bringing your travels to us I love how you skim the cream of your travels and serve it up to us in such a personal and meaningful way. I get a thrill every time I see "TravelBlog Update..." in my inbox. Your readers may look like they are just staring and smiling at their Dells and Gateways but thanks to your writing and wonderful photos, for a few minutes, we are walking beside Mandy and Griff as they explore and wonder about the world. Keep the cream coming... we're getting the travel bargain of a lifetime!
AM HAPPY YOUR HAVING LOTS OF FUN AM HAPPY YOUR HAVING ALOT OF FUN...WHEN I GROW UP I WANT TO TRAVEL JUST LIKE YOU BUT FIRST I HAVE TO GO TO SCHOOL GET A GOOD JOB WERE THEY PAY ME ALOT SO I COULD SAVE MONEY AND TRAVEL AROUND THE WORLD.. Now you've brought me to tears You have shared so many wonderful things in your blogs with us, so many of which touched us deeply. But reading of your great love for, and memories of our dear friend and co-worker brought me to tears. As much as he and I shared life stories and interests those after school hours, across my desk in the library, and those time we all shared in the teacher's lunchroom, you, his students, hold so much more and knew him so much more deeply. What an intelligent, cultured, funny and goofy man he was. So edgy yet so sensitive to others. What a generous, giving man he was. I miss his friendship all over again. But it's been so good to see him after so many years, through your memories and words. I feel like I've just spent another enlightened time with our dear friend. Thank you.
Thank you so much for writing th kindest things about us. You are really an awesome couple and we were glad to have you here. I am sure you will have many more memorable moments, we just hope that you never forget your stay in Peru. May God bless you on this journey. Hey maybe you should write a book one day. You are an excellent writer!! Que Dios les bendiga.

Amen from a fellow club member This one I relate too!! lol It is hard to imagine walking thru the Amazon but enjoying a shower, that, I relate to. I think one of the reasons I love to camp is it reminds me of conditions our ancestors lived with a tiny bit. To enjoy nature with nothing in between yourself and the elements, (not counting the tent!). Now of course we are older and it is a camp trailer. But the shower on the first night home! Oh my what a wonder. I often thank the Lord for running water and the luxury of indoor plumbing of all sorts. Thank you for reminding us to be grateful and understanding of others in our world.
We so loved the visit we had with your Mom and Peter. What wonderful parents you have. No wonder you write so well! God bless you and continue to keep you safe.
Your fellow traveler if only on this planet,
Frances

Too high for comfort! I'm glad I got to see Machu Pichu through your eyes. What awesome images but with the way I feel about heights, the chances I see them firsthand are pretty slim. My stomach was turning just seeing you guys sitting on edge of the rock. Thanks for taking me there! Miss you guys!
I still can't believe you're out there doing this! It's great that you went and followed your dreams. PS Darlyn has been reading well lately during our group time. She is really motivated. I thought you would like to know...
We miss you a lot over here in HP.
lisa
Hi my kids! Oh how we miss you but love traveling with you! God is truly blessing you both in ways that may even surprise you! Here's some info from a friend regarding Romania...
heart2heartint.org or info@h2int.org...see if those help...We love you both and pray for your health, safety and your growth! love, linda
True that What you state in your last paragraph resonates true with many countries. I'm anxious to see/read if that reflection can be also be said about the political state of Asian countries you intend to visit, like Vietnam. I think we're going to have to ask Tom Brokaw to step aside. :)
Cool!!!! Mrs. Schutt, the jungle is so cool! I think I would of been more scared of the alligator than of the spiders, but I don't know because if the spiders were big I would of been scared of both! Well anyways I miss you and Bye!
You make your trip alive for others I am constantly amazed when I read your blogs. They are wonderful, full of so much information about the countries and culture. Thank you for sharing your fun with us.
Lesson Learned Wow Griff! I think you missed your calling in life; you should have been a Political Science Professor. Actually Marisa says its more sociology since you did a great job explaining "interactions within a society." All I know for sure is that I learned a lot!
First hand experience Nothing like a first hand report. I can't wait to hear how the perception of the U.S. differs from place to place. After I think about it, I think I can understand how if you don't want to be alone in the Western hemisphere and don't want to align with the U.S. you might find yourself in bed with Castro. It will be interesting to see what Peruvians think about this alignment. Will Bolivia be a communist democracy? Love you two, Peter
I've been there too! Mandy, your descriptive narrative is fascinating. I feel like I've been there too. This is so wonderful! Travel safe and keep up the great work. Much love, Bron
Tom and Mary Louise Thanks for a great in depth report!! What did you see as a presence of any US diplomats in these areas?? Or are they too busy picking coca leaves to look up and see what the Bolivian people are about??? Latin politics are always fervent!
Thank you! Thank you for bringing Copacabana to life for us! What a lively picture you paint with your words...La Escalera, las hijas caminando con su madre, la nina sin dientes, los colores...wonderful fotos. Thank you. Thank you. XOXO
Can you please bring the wee little alpaca home for Brooklyn? Oh, and she REALLY wants Angelina to call her? Hmmm...not too sure what we can do about that...maybe another email?
