welcome back Hey Claunando!
Just received your latest blog entry from October. What an funny accident because only last night I watched the my fotos from Africa 2006. Remember our dinner with cheese, bread, red wine and Kalashnikov in the kindergarden tent on top of the lava spitting Nyaragongo in Congo? How absurd all this lokks from a distance.
Compliments for your reports. Your pictures have improved a lot during your 3andahalfyear photo shooting session.
Say hello once you´re back in Germany and don´t stop writing your blog now that you seem to back in real life. everyone wants to know how the story continues!
Cheers from the cold part of the world!
Fabian
The bearded Monkey I agree with your assessment of hostels and have one that has nearly everything you mentioned. The Bearded Monkey in Granada Nicaragua. It does not have a pool or free breakfast though. It also had another location on the lake and provides excursions there... so instead of a pool it has a lake.
Really love your bios and you adventure. Keep traveling!

a long way from Hampi Claudio e Fernando,
It is so good to have been able to keep up with your travels since we met back in Hampi, India. Your blog entries bubble with the same vibrant energy that i remember you by. My brother and i travelled together in Morocco, Spain and France after i left India - and i remember telling him about you two and how we were a bit the same. Anyway, i'm back in Australia now and trying to figure out how to go to South America. I hope you enjoy the rest of your time abroad - and thank you again for your fantastic reflection along the way. Peace

Have fun, talk to you soon

Hi guys:) Hey, suntan?!! Ehhem, we worked hard on our group project!! listening to long explaniations about pot-holing and cowpeas takes a LOT of patience.. That there was a swimming pool in Chachacha was just a crazy coincidence.. :) Hope you are still having a good trip. I am enjoying student life here in South Africa which is not so bad either:) Maria
Good on you for trying out some selling skills I had to laugh out loud when I read about trying to sell postcards back to the Egyptians...why didn't I think of that!!! I too ended up somehow with a pack of postcards I didnt really want (but felt lucky i didn't find myself unwittingly on the back of a camel paying 100pound to get off! ) I just got back from a 2 week trip to Egypt and just loved it. A short trip to keep the travel bug at bay but has only worstened the bite. Until I am on the road properly in December I will enjoy living vicariously through you. I actually got online to do my blog on Egypt but have instead spent 2hrs reading your blogs...remembering places I've been, reading about places I want to go - which is pretty much all of them! thank you for the wonderful blogs and photo's. Happy travels! PS: if Australia isn't too normal for you and you make it over here then i hope you come to perth in Western Oz, The Most Isolated Capital City In the World and some of the most wonderful unspoilt and unihabited coastline you can find.
Middle East Mess At first I didn't understand the aggression of the Palestinians towards the Israelis until I heard a segment on the radio. During this interview, it was brought to my attention that the Israelis not only took the land of these people, but moved into their homes! Many Palestinians fled their homes with their house keys in hand planning to return. It is hard to respect the Israelis in this case. At the very least Israel can help support the Palestinians to rebuild their communities.
Those two walls cant be compared with each other. the berlin wall was erected by a socialist regime to hinder its people from escaping their system to the more prosperous west german system. the wall separating the west jordan land from mainland israel was build to protect israel from islamic suicide bombers.

re: Need To Dig (Read?) Further Hi, great blog on Laos along with some superb pictures. Definitely one of my favourite places to visit and one that I'll hopefully re-visit one day.
In response to sapere18's comments, the USA's involvement in a secret war in Laos is well documented and accepted - see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Laotian_Civil_War for a selection of independent references. Laos was considered a potential aid to North Viet Nam (as described by Eisenhower's Domino Theory). Laos' official status of neutrality (declared by both NVN and the USA) meant any involvement in Laos (by either country) had to be kept secret. The amounts of ordnance produced in the USA still found today is evidence enough. A trip to this beautiful country and reading around the subject will provide more information.
Thanks again for the blog - and happy travels, guys.
Need To Dig Further Hey! Thanks for the comment. We love when people question our writings. Means that they read and put attention to it. I didn't understand properly your comment! Do you mean that USA hasn't admitted involvement in the secret war in Laos? USA says that all that USA made bombs dropped by USA military airplanes never existed? Sorry pal, we don't want to offend you or anyone, that's why we didn't discuss in our text if USA did had a reason or not, if there were other countries involved or not, or if the bombing was indiscriminate or not. The fact is: Laos is the most bombed country on earth and the vast majority of the bombs came from the USA. Your country has never suffered carpet bombing, Land Mines, etc. Think about the inocent people that had to endure all the bombing and now listen to USA deny involvement or resposability for the death of their children, partners, parents and friends. Come to Laos, see the fileds, the bombs, talk to the elderly locals and you will understand what we are talking about. Safe trips, Claudio and Fernando
