The first thing you'll notice about the world's largest flower auction center, located in Aalsmeer, is how calm and quiet everything appears. An entity that enables 126,000 flower transactions everyday, employs over 4500 people and is roughly the size of Monaco has to be a remarkably efficient operation. After entering the flower market, you'll walk along a central elevated walkway spanning the length of the main facility. Along this walkway, you'll see larges rooms, not unlike college lecture halls, except instead of a professor lecturing, you witness a constant train of flowers passing for auction while tens to hundreds of buyers, depending on the auction type, bid in reverse dutch auctions for the flowers.
