So I set off from Heathrow with Singapore Airlines. I flew out on the 18:30 overnight flight to Singapore and then connected and flew onto Ho Chi Minh City the next day. Its a long trip but Singapore Airlines are good so it went fairly quicky. After getting my vias upon arrival I went via taxi to Pham Ngu Lao area which is a big travellers area or backpackers ghetto. I stayed in a Guest House on Bui Vien road called Van Trang Hotel. The two things that hit when you arrive are the number of motorbikes and the humidity

After living in Guadalajara, Mexico for a year and then travelling around South America I decided that I wanted to go and experience living in South East Asia. So, here I am in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. Alot of people were surprised when I told them I was going to Vietnam, but I wanted to go to a country that is in the processs of changing as opposed to a developed country in Asia. I decided on Ho Cho Minh City over Hanoi because I felt it would suit me better, it's bigger so there is probably more going on and it is also very much the commercial capital.
