Eden Bar
A bar which served very cheap alcohol. Saigon has to be the cheapest for it. Emma drunk a fair bit of this bowl too though!! Our last day in Ho Chi Minh and our anniversary, although the day didnt start out as good as we had hoped!! Following Gary's problem with the ATM, as instructed, he headed back around 9am in hope that the print out would show up the discrepency, however it turned out the maintenance guy turned up at 8am and not 9am!! Next instruction was to go to the bank itself, whereapon Gary was told to return at 11am!! Gary returned to the hostel rather frustrated as you can imagine and to top things off, we were informed that our room had been double booked so we had to pack and move out!!
We headed in search of another room, and managed to find a hostel nearby with vacancies, although slightly more expensive than the previous abode. We enjoyed breakfast in a local "french deli" and took a stroll around the shops for christmas presents (I know it seems so early, but we wanted to make sure that they arrive in the UK in time for santa) in an attempt to kill time before we returned to the bank.
No surprise to us, the bank was unable to do anything. So
Poor Gary
Look at the face on him after taking another beating at pool!!! we headed to the nearest internet cafe and using Skype (a wonderful invention) we managed to get through to our bank in the UK, who are going to raise a dispute and look into the matter further for us.
Feeling a lot better about the ATM situation, we grabbed a taxi and headed off to the Dam Sen Water Park. It was amazing, lots of different water slides and pool facilities. Neither me nor Gary had experienced a park with as many rides or ones of that height or speed before.
We got plenty of exercise running up the many sets of stairs to get to the top of the slides and had great laughs and screams all the way to the bottom. Some of the slides were that fast and full of bubbling water that you momentarily felt like you were drowning!! Not that we were put off any, as soon as we were out the pool we were racing to the top again. I loved the slides that allowed us to go down on the big water rings in pairs, skimming us along the pool at the bottom. These were easily my favourite as not only
Meal
Emma, after swigging some of that wine bottle! That's also not coke in that glass. were they fast but there was no chance on me losing my dignity as I went crashing into the water, as one nearly did!! Needless to say I did not go back on that slide!! We both loved the Kamikaze slide which was around 19 meter high and extremely fast!! The first and last slide of our afternoon!!!
We were enjoying a relaxing float around in the wave pool when a thunder storm came on, it was great everyone just stayed in the water and continued having fun despite the weather, it wasnt as if it was cold after all!! The rain didnt last for long and before we knew it the sun was out again. As I was floating along a Vietnamese girl befriended me and we were talking although through very broken english for what seemed some time. Her and her boyfriend asked if we wanted to go on some of the other games with them - at first we were unsure what she meant by this, but soon realised they were inviting us to go onto one of the slides with them. We accepted their invitation and I think they were quite shocked that me and Gary headed for the highest fastest slide first!!!
Well we both really enjoyed our anniversary and only wished that we had a third party here to take photos as im sure there would have been some great footage, what can I say we are both big kids at heart!!
We returned to our hostel, dumped our bags and went out for a nice meal, both of us had worked up a bit of an apetite after the eventful day!! As we finished or meal and headed in search of a drink a thunder storm came on, so we darted into an internet cafe for some shetler till it passed!!! Although this was nothing like a thunder storm we had experienced before. The thunder was extremely loud overhead and the rain was coming out of the sky at a fair rate. Before we knew it the roads had turned into a river and was beginning to spill over onto the pavements. We were beginning to think the rain was never going to stop and that we were going to be stuck in the internet cafe all night!! It seemed to be the back end of the storm that had flooded North Vietnam a few days earlier.
However an hour passed and as the rain eased off the drains started to clear and the water slowly drained away from the road allowing us to go in search of an alcoholic beverage!! We sampled some of the local beer and something which could only be described as a fish bowl, holding two litres of vodka red bull!! Needless to say after a couple of fish bowls we were tucked up in bed and I drifted off as Gary rambled on something about the day ahead!!
