Our bus dropped us off very early in the morning at Pham Ngu Lao, the backpacker center of Saigon. Some touts followed us around, but we decided to stay clear of them. Being accosted from all sides by people extolling the virtues of their hotel gets to you after a while. You simply don't know who to trust when people say anything just to get your money. They try to wear you down, calculating on your tiredness & inability to move on after you've decided what they promised is a complete fabrication....
