Day 55
Up and at 'em, packed some sangers and on the bus for Nha Trang, filled with the group we had met the night before at the Hangout. After a comfortable 6 hour bus trip we arrived in sunny Nha Trang and headed for the budget area eventually settling on the NICE hotel. Slightly overwhelmed by the sudden climate change from the cool Dalat we headed straight for the beach to cool off. We relaxed by the beach and shared a huge fruit salad with our growing gang from a local singing fruit saleswoman. After a quick change we headed to the closest bar for a quiet drink before meeting up with the others for BBQ seafood feast followed by some more drinks and taught our gang of seven how Aussies play "Ring of Fire"!!
Day 56
After a hearty bacon and eggs for breaky we met with the others and haggled down the best price for a trip to the Thap Ba Hot Spring Centre. We arrived at the baths not really knowing what to expect, but were soon pointed in the right direction and given the strict step-by-step program. First stop strip off, (thats to shorts and
tees for the locals and bikini's and boardies for us) and showered down. Next into the warm mud bath warmed to approximently 37 degrees, full of amazing medical properties with the ability cure everthing from high blood pressure, cure disease of the nervous system (??), arthritis, rheumatism and stress (Most of us we just hoping it would cure our hangovers). After 15 minutes of wellowing in the mud like pigs we sunbathed for 5 minutes to allow the mud to dry before hitting the high pressure showers to wash off all the mud (And it was everywhere... no need for details). We finished off with a hot mineral bath heated to 40 degrees (Five minutes in there and we were all about to melt!) So we halved the recommended time and set out for the pool, only to find it too was 40 degrees! Feeling hot, but rejuvenated and relaxed we headed back for lunch. Craving pizza, we stopped at a restaurant not knowing that they could only cook 2 pizza's at one time, a long two hours later we had all eaten and headed to the beach.
After a long walk, a swim and watched the miriad of extortionate
water sports... $50 per half hour wakeboarding we headed back to met the others at Olivia restaurant for dinner before an early night.
Day 57
Off to Vinpearl Land!! We (Me, Jez, Eve, Marianne and Matt ) boarded the cable car with our sights set on Vinpearl Land a large amusement park on small island easily visable from the mainland of Nha Trang. As the water part was yet to open we watched the monkeys ride rings arond each other at the animal circus, made ourselves sick on the Evolution, watched Underwater world at the 4D movie theatre but nothing quite compared with watching the locals ride the swing carousel.
Off to the nearly deserted water park we took to every slide, before Jez challanged a couple young locals to the Racer, after 3/3 wins they put down Jez's immaculate form to having a few extra pounds! We grabbed a bite for lunch, before a catching a few more slides, a float in the wave pool and finished off on the compact coaster. We took the cable car back to the mainland, keen to make the most of the day light hours we hired some motos and headed out
On the gas
It's 5 'clock...somewhere. with Tom and John to see the Cham Towers and Pagoda at sunset!
After another quick change we met the others plus Liz, Lisa, Karl and Martha and headed out for tea, our growing numbers we proved excellent bargaining power Jez playing off two restaurants from one side of the street to the other for 10 % discount for everyone. Followed by a few drinks at Zippo, Blue Gecko and Crazy Kim's.
Day 58 - Pirates of Nha Trang
Up bright and early (feeling just below par) in search of pirate outfits (after some idiot (me) thought it would be a great idea to dress up for a our cruise). Rushed for time we payed some crazy prices for some plastic swords, water pistols, head scarf and vodka making it to the bus in the nick of time. We boarded the Mama Linh Cruise already packed with people (definately cringing as the peaceful boat trip had just turned into a crazy booze cruise). As it turned out some locals from Albury were also on board (Kirsten, Lauren & 2 others) they too were quickly turned into pirates and our possy continued to grow!! Some feeling the effects of a
few too many the night before providing burley before we even set off whilst Jez's first beer was cracked at 9:50am (apparently it was 5pm somewhere). First stop, our costly and time consuming costumes were quickly destroyed as we jumped off the boat into the magic blue ocean for some amazing snorkelling. Next stop, massive traditional Vietnamese lunch onboard, before jumping overboard to cool off by the floating bar for some terrible red wine. Followed by some International karaoke, where each country sang and danced to a song as preselected by the band comprised by our enthusiastic crew with homemade drums and all. Next stop was the rocky beach, hence no jumping, where we whaled ourselves on the rocks before heading off for our final stop at the Aquarium, Carly took a look around whilst Jez was entertained by his vodka bottle. We headed back to freshen up, and Jez to nap, requiring five minutes of screaming and banging by Karl to wake Jez from the dead. Unfortunately Jez energy was unable to be revived and we snuck away early.
Day 59
After a sleep in and breaky we checked out, headed to the beach for one last time.
We stopped at Lousinanna Brewary for a tasting set and some chicken wings by the free pool. Where we spent the morning relaxing and swimming. Next was compulsory stop for lunch at Guava to confirm whether Jez's burger from the night before was truely the best ever or he was just pissed. Turned out it was a great burger. We got sent from one side of the town to the other to confirm our sleeper bus for that night trip to Hoian! We headed back to Mecca for some BBQ seafood and swapped photos with Tom from the cruise before boarding for Hoian.
