Nha Trang
What do you think about this? That more people die of coconut related injuries than Avean Flu (more commonly known as Bird Flu)??!! Thought that should be made known before I delved into the sights and sounds of Nha Trang. Always good to know! There were a lot of coconut trees in Nha Trang!!
Nha Trang was AMAZING!!! I love Saigon but it is a
HUGE city, pollution and people go hand in hand here and so it was just great to be able to leave the city for a few days. We left early Saturday morning on the plane (Vietname Airlines did a pretty good job - I reccomend it!) and we checked in our guesthouse where I shared a room with Moira. The boys were on our floor but had access to a roof terrace. It seems to us that the boys always get the better deal when it comes to rooms...
We grabbed some breakfast and headed to the beach where we rented out huge beach loungers for 20,000 dong (1 euro!!) at the Sailing Club and just lived the life!!! It was amazing! The water was a tad warmer than what I am used to and therefore was less refreshing than
On the plane
The boys at 5am look pretty good! usual but hey.. its the South China Sea baby and we were happy! No sharks or jelly fish by the way! For lunch Moira and I ordered a kilo of seafood, including a lobster, 3 crabs, various clams and sea snails for 150,000 dong which is 5 whole English Pounds!!!!!! Needless to say it was delicious and fresh and it was a definate highlight of the day! Moira ate crab poo which according to her (and these are her words exactly) " For a waste product this isn't too bad".
At night time we went out for some food and it just was the start to an amazing night! Sarah's birthday was on Sunday so the celebrating started at dinner, and I don't really know why it was so funny or why it was so memorable but we had a great time together. The restaurant even gave us free food.. so we must have been doing something right!! We headed out to a bar called "Why Not" which let's face it.. is probably the best named bar in the world!!! Why Not is probably the most used expression when drunk so we thought the Why Not bar would be
Nha Trang
What do you think about this? a good place to start our drunkeness! It was buy one cocktail get one free so that started off things pretty smoothly! We returned to the Sailing club and met up with our coordinator Bob (he's 45ish) and his Vietnamese girlfriend when suddenly Moira persuaded everyone to dance. IT WAS GREEEEEEEAT! Moira is my favourite dancing partner in the world! We are both well into making a fool of ourselves on the dance floor!! We did the grab the ankle and jump around like a fool move which worked pretty well... seeing that the Vietnamese don't like loosing face in public, Moira and I went all out! It was great fun! She was going around pretending to be Bambi.. that was how much fun it was! At 12 it was Ocean time and Joe, Brian, Moira, Sarah and I went and jumped in the sea to welcome Sarah's birth day... I'm very glad I wasn't wearing white underwear, but unfortunately Moira was! I then pinched one of the chef's hats and then got it swiftly confiscated by the security guards and not happy with that, stole some dude's glasses and hid until he found me and took them off me
Arriving in style!
Hien, Moira and I! again! I could go on guys but I am fully aware that this is probably not as funny to you guys as it is to me! I was very impressed with Joe and Brian's level of sweating though.. very nearly beat mine and Moira's. Joe challenged me to a sweating competition so I will keep you posted on that one! The night ended and I walked home with Joe in search of some food.. I was starving, when Joe told me that Bob had asked him if I was a lesbian.... so yeah.. I must be sending out the wrong vibes. I think Joe put him straight on that one!
Our room was sooooo hot as the air conditionaing wasn't working so Moira and I slept on the roof terrace across the way from the boys. Why we never thought of just sleeping on the floor in ther air conditioned room I do not know... but it wasn't too bad, and we were drunk so we passed out pretty much straight away!
Sunday was a chilling out day... Moira and I woke very early and headed to the beach for a snooze, had lunch, snozzed some more on
Joe
Sweeeeeeet! David Hasselhoff with my Ray Bans!! the beach and at night, before our train ride home we all went to a sea food restaurant where we had everything that you could think of and paid 10 Pounds! I LOVE IT HERE!!!! We got the overnight train back to Saigon (which was amazing... slept right the way through the journey which took 6 hours) arriving in Ho Chi Minh City at 5 am. We went home, showered, had breakfast and showed up for TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) class absolutely shattered.
So our Nha Trang experience was great!!! We have the opportunity to teach English there and a lot of us are thinking of teaching 6 months in HCMCity and the last 6 months in Nha Trang... we'll see how that works out!
I apologise for the blog being so long and so late but I have been super busy with classes! Will write another blog on that... I want to keep Nha Trang special... with the right to its own entry! Enjoy the photos! 😊
