Rice Hats
A tower of rice hats. Saw this in Hoi An. So cute! I am now in Nha Trang. That's why the title of this entry is paradise in my sister's house. Nha is a Vietnamese word for "house" and Trang is my sister's house. Okay, a lame pun but whatevers. It's really neat here!
So to go back to a couple days back, my family actually did NOT end up going to Halong Bay. If we had gone, then we wouldn't have gotten to browse around Hue, which is the imperial capital of Vietnam. Myha's family is from there for those that know her. So we were visiting your hood Myha! ;-) So we're not going to make Halong Bay at all this year. Maybe next year.
Yes, next year, I am planning to come back again. I already decided a couple days back. So did the rest of my family. Especially since yesterday, on our way back from Hoi An, which is another tourist town, we dropped off my mom's side of the family. Oy ya...my grandma sat down next to my sister and I and then started crying. She proceeded on to say, "So when are you guys going to visit me next? After I have already died?" My
Last Emperor's Palace
The last of the Nguyen dynasty resided here. mom had warned us about her. She cried every day my grandpa went into hiding during the war, she cries whenever someone goes off to school in a different city, she cries every single time my mom leaves from visiting them, and now she's crying for us. I wanted to cry too. So sad! I hadn't put much thought into when I would visit again until then. So I was dreading the time that we actually said goodbye to them. One of my aunt's (the one that looks JUST LIKE my mom) was weeping too. She was all telling us that she will remember us and make sure to call. All the uncles and aunts wanted us to tell them when we were going to get married too, and give them a lot of notice so that they can save money to fly over. Dude, now my wedding invitations have prolly tripled. The whole gang is definitely coming over.
Last night, we stayed in Quy Nhon again. This time in a 5 star hotel instead of the 2 star hotels that we've been staying in. We always have trouble getting a hotel to accomodate our whole entire lot, so
Battle Royale
Brother and three of the cousins dueling for the throne! we lucked out with a nicer one last night. Beachfront property, good food, air conditioning that actually works. Oh goodness....the other night, we stayed in another dump...and I guess the a/c just shuts off itself after a couple hours....I got really hot, I woke up and went to the bathroom to try to vomit, but nada. So still feeling naseous, I wake up my dad from his snoring slumber, and tell him I'm not feeling good. He freaks out and follows me outside of the room. I told him to go get my mom and he makes a ruckus and basically wakes up the whole entire floor. My mom wakes up and of course she makes me feel better immediately. Telling ya...there's nothing like mom taking care of you when you're feeling under the weather. I decided that I was not going to sleep in that hot hot room anymore and decide to sleep on our balcony. I bring out my bath towel and just plop down on the floor. My dad says, "that looks like fun" and joins me. We got to wake up to the sunset. It was beautiful....seeing the sky go from a dark black/blue hue to a glowing amber with the bustling of the waking city at 5am in the morning. The days here are shorter than in California. Starts earlier too I believe.
Anywho, word spreads quick in my family. I go downstairs, and everyone is teasing me for getting sick last night. I know that my dad's mouth had something to do with this. He freaks out about everything and makes everything out to be such a big deal. We're crossing the street, and he'll run up to us and be like.."I'm in front of you guys! I'm in front." Or I'll just go to the bathroom to go number 1 and he'll come to me and be like, "Are you okay? What's wrong with you?" - "Dad! I just went to pee!" Oh goodness...definitely the overworried, overstressed, overprotective one of the family. Still gotta love him though.
Oh yeah, so in Hue, we toured around the city a lot. We saw temples, palaces, and got to dress up as emperors and empresses. We took a lot of pictures and that was a lot of fun too. There are chairs and stuff that you can sit in and pose. We were all making faces and stuff...especially my brother David. He's always the jokester though. The real fun didn't start though until my Grandma came out after us all dressed up. We were like..."whoa! watch out!" She came up to pose and sit on the chair with us surrounding her. She couldn't help but smile, however in pictures she doesn't want to be seen smiling because she's missing a lot of teeth. So she had her arm all covering her mouth.
This reminds me, I am too embarrassed to read what I wrote the last time. I was so out of it. I got a little sick the next morning. Actually that was the night that I woke up in the middle of the night and slept out on the balcony. But yeah, sorry if the entry did not make any sense at all. It prolly didn't.
This morning was the second time I got go swimming. The beach was diiiiiirty though. I think worse than Huntington Beach this time. No one was swimming, but we were all like, screw it...my dad went in first. Before that though, we played volleyball. We all suck, except for my brother. Damn his height. He's all cocky over here bc of his height. Everyone looks up to him, thinks he's so cool. I want to wack his big head and deflate it but I can't reach. :-/ Oh wells.
So Nha Trang seems really cool so far. We got in a little early which is nice. We ate and and played games. There's this cart that is being pushed around by a man..and he had these speakers that was playing house music in english. There was also this little pop gun attached to it. You can try to shoot the lil popper thing through the hole. You get candy for getting it in. I tried it and got it in the hole! It's a lot of fun. Same with Trang too...she got it in. But hot shot David didn't get it in.
We also danced in the street. David and I had a dance off. Trang got it on video. Will upload that later.
Tomorrow's agenda includes parasailing, swimming, pool resort. Parasailing is only about 15 bucks here. I hear that it's about 40 in the states. Also, I must get a massage sometime...but I will definitely pass up on any blow jobs or anything of that sort. Dang Tam, that's nasty! Haha. After all of that, we're going to go to Da Lat. I think that's how you spell it. I have no idea what it's known for. But I shall see. The days are going by quick! About halfway through the trip by tomorrow already.
There's a slight chance that I may be coming back early from the trip though. But most likely, I think I am staying until the 2nd of August. Okay, time to check up on facebook, myspace, etc! Oh and also the news....what's been happening yos??? =P
