We heard music from the house, so we approached to see what was inside it. There were some H'mong people who were practicing catholic songs.

We followed two Nùng ethnic girls we met at the market to their house and they invited us lunch with attendance of many relatives. They live in poor and dirty condition.

The Nùng ethnic girl is standing by a rice threshing machine. This machine is of manual type. The machine on the left side is automatic and it uses generator.

A truck was broken on the way. It caused traffic jam and we had to wait for 20 minutes in Nậm Dịch town.

I hired a motorbike taxi driver to Sán Sả Hồ commune, 12km from Hoàng Su Phì town. This is one of the places which has terraced rice fields.

Another great trip
Hong Ha I'm so impressed at the way you persisted with this trip until you did what you wanted to. I only got as far as Ha Giang but your experiences really make me want to go further.

old memories
These images brought back many memories of my two years in Vietnam '66-67 and '67-68 when I was a Special Forces soldier. I thought then, and still do, that Vietnam is one of the most beautiful countries on Earth and its people among the handsomest to be found anywhere, particularly the delightfully beautiful and graceful women. The Vietnamese are also a strong and resilient people who weathered those terrible war years and their aftermath. I hope any of them who might want to come here do so.
