16 & 17/4/2012 – Day 3 & Day 4 of the 5 day trip to Hà Giang (the northernmost province of Vietnam). We said good bye to Đồng Văn town and moved on toward the most beautiful section of the trip. Mapileng pass is only 7km in length, but as I said in Part 1, it took 11 months to build one km which was the most difficult section. We stopped several times on the way for taking photos. We are going to reach the other mountain following this winding road.

The famous photographer didn't use the cameras with big lenses. He used a simple one to get close-up with the ethnic people at the market.

We invited the girl cakes and asked her some questions about her life. She is still single and works as a farmer.

Soil is a precious thing as the rocks make up majority of the land area. The ethnic people lay the small rock pieces to prevent the soil and tree from falling down.

We ate Phở noodle soup in 4 out of 5 breakfasts on the tours. (4 trong số 5 bữa sáng trong tour là món phở. Chưa bao giờ tôi phải ăn phở liên tục đến như vậy).

We went to see the Love Fair in Khâu Vai and it was organized near this school. I saw some ethnic pupils and their wooden bunk beds.

Some local food are sold at the Khâu Vai Love Fair. Ethnic minority people enjoy meeting each other and eating food. Rượu ngô (maize wine) is also sold here.

I am not sure what time the musical and dancing performance was made. When I came to the Love Fair, only tourists were taking photos on the stage.

Both locals and tourists who came to see the Love Fair worshiped at this small temple.

April and May are the months when we can see these pink flowers.

Simply stunning scenery. Ha Giang area has the potential to be another tourist attraction in no time :) I love the basket the locals carry like a backpack (you can put all the shopping in, even a one year old baby)
