Hoi An

We were so happy to arrive at Hoi An with our bike, Olga even got so excited that she screamed: "look white people😉". Not that we did not like beeing among local people (Vietnamese) and enjoying their delicious soups. We were just happy to have some variety in our selection of hotels and dining menues 😉

The city itself is a very small city built nowadays arround tourism, and before it served as very important harbour. It has a very beautiful beach and nice atmosphere. We were happy to meet some local bikers - easyriders and their president. We shared some ideas about motorbike riding and he (the president) valued our bike for 40Million Dong (Wuhuu 😉 You can read more about them @ http://easyridersvietnam.wordpress.com/

Getaway from Hoi An

Because we lost 7 days in Bangkok waiting for bike papers and 3 more days due to the border bureaucracy, we decided to speed up a bit (not literally). We took the train to Ha Noi from Da Nang (one hour North from Hoi An). Of course there was a problem and she (our bike) could not join us, now she is now on her way. We will welcome her tommorow to Ha Noi at 4pm. Train trip of 800km took us 16 hours, and it surely felt like that. And still, many Western airlines and train companies could take Vietnam railways food quality and pricing as a great example. Food was really good and cheap. So instead of thinking of spending 100 Usd for bike and two passengers, we will remember the cheap and good food 😉

New Year in Ha Noi

We were happy to welcome the New Year here in Ha Noi two hours ago. There were lot of people at the streets. The strange thing was that all of them kind of dissappeared after 00:30 am. The city felt empty again. The city represents for me something old (communism) and I feel that the city lives in the pressure of change for more liberal style. We will research tommorow more of the city and it's personality.
P.S. No single firework was shot, which is strange for celebration of the New Year in a capital of a country, even a communist one 😉

Be well and Happy new year to you all!
