Xin Chao,

One week on and we didn't go for a dive in the end as it turned out that the reef was only shallow and you could snorkel it perfectly well. We went on a boat trip with a couple of people from our guesthouse and had a really good time. The coral was great and although we didn't see anything big, we saw some nice reef fish. It was definitely a good warm up for Malaysia and Indonesia where, touch wood there will be sharks and rays by the plenty. Eating a 'local feast' on the boat and jumping from the top deck into the crystal clear water wasn't bad either, although my cannonball wasn't very impressive next to every other persons perfect (and I'm only half exaggerating) swallow dives.

After spending about 3 days more in Nha Trang than we should have, we eventually moved on to Hoi An further up the Coast. Hoi An has a very beautiful old town where no cars or motorbikes are allowed, so it was great wandering around, looking into shops and eating lots of fantastic food. It's also the tailoring centre of Vietnam, so I couldn't resist getting a

custom fitted suit which is now jetting it's way over to Sale, or equally as likely, adorning the only 6'3 Vietnamese chap in the post office... We went for a day trip to My Son, a complex of temples up to 1750 years old, very overgrown and very, well, jungle book!

From Hoi An, we got a 4 hour coach journey to Hue which is where i'm writing from now. The weather is terrible and a place is never going to make a great impression through a day long downpour. We could be being unfair, but we've basically decided to go with our gut and given that we are running out of time on our Visas, we have already booked onto a night bus to Hanoi tomorrow evening (14 hours, we are trying not to think about it)

Hanoi looks like it will be fantastic and from there we will head over to Halong Bay which we are really looking forward to.

1 month in and we haven't killed each other yet... It's gone very quickly and we're having a great time.

Let us know what's going on at home, it's nice to hear from you.
