We arrived in Hue after getting the overnight train from Hanoi, the Livertrans Express is easily the most luxuriest train we have been on so far even though it was a bit bumpy! Twelve hours in a luxury cabin with a few cans of Tiger was no problem.
Hue is on the most peoples list of places to visit in Vietnam and comes recommended in the Lonely Planet so we included it in our stay but neither of us could really work out why! We found a nice enough hotel with a pool (of course) and within budget but there wasn't really much to do or see other than the citadel. We therefore decided that this would be a good place to hire our first moped and go exploring on our own ala Top Gear style. This is definatley the right thing to do for anyone visiting Hue as we wizzed around the Citadel in no time and went out to find a beach, the first one of our whole trip!
With that done and no Facebook (its banned in Vietnam) to keep Emilie amused we booked our bus tickets and made a quick exit to Hoi An.
