26 September 2009 - After traveling for 2 hours by plane from Hanoi to Cần Thơ, 4 hours by bus from Cần Thơ - Sóc Trăng - Bạc Liêu - Cà Mau and then 2 hours by water taxi, I reached the Cà Mau cape (Mũi Cà Mau), which is the southernmost point of Vietnam. In northern Vietnam you will see many women carrying baskets to sell the food. In southern Vietnam the locals use this type of food stall and go around the places for selling the food.

When walking around the area near my hotel, I saw this shop and ordered a glass of sweet soup.

Our water taxi is passing by Cà Mau cape national park. There are many mangrove trees (cây đước) along the river.

We left the water taxi and while walking toward the bus, we saw this shop on the pavement next to the Cà Mau bridge.

One of the dishes in the Mekong Delta is snake meat. This shop sells pythons and snakes.

Next to the python and snake shop, we saw the rat cages. We asked the sellers and they said these rats were sold for pythons and snakes to eat.

The name of this hotel is "Hotel International" (Khách sạn Quốc tế). This is also the biggest hotel in the city. The owner of this hotel is Chinese.

On the altar I saw garlic so I asked our guide. He said that the Chinese believed that garlic could prevent the bad lucks.

There are lots of steps to go up and down the observation tower for watching the view of the cape. I felt a little bit dizzy when standing on the top of the tower.

On the way to the southern tip, our water taxi was passing by Năm Căn district of Cà Mau province. The National Highway No. 1 ends at this place. The boat (vỏ lãi) in this photo is very popular in Cà Mau. It's made of composite and different with the wooden boats in other areas of the Mekong Delta.
