It didn’t take long for the “can we stay longer” requests. Had I known it was this good we would have had Harry’s Birthday here.

The kids were dying for a swim, so straight after breakfast, high tide and the kids were in. They swam and played for ages. We could just relax, Christine into a book. There are quite a few who have permanent houses here, and live here for some months. I got chatting to a guy from Canada. He lives here for six months and Canada for six months. He used to just rent, but has now built, and has a lease on the land. He was here in the Tsunami and lost everything. Mr Chung (who owns the place) was on the main land when it hit, so he rang to see what was happening there, the Canadian (Johny) answered the phone because he had just finished talking to his daughter in Canada. He didn know anything was wrong until Mr Chung told him so Johny looked out to sea, Mr Chung kept asking questions but in the end Johny said "umm Mr Chung i need to go now because the biggest wave I have ever

seen is heading this way!" he then ran for his life up the road. He works in the resort in Phuket etc as a musician and lost his job. They still seem to be recovering.

The Chess board is still out and the kids honing their skills. It is so quiet, it is incredible. Occasionally you hear someone raking leaves or something, but not much else. Had a long walk along the beach late afternoon, could hear the monkeys in the trees and this freaked the kids a bit. Had to hurry back, cause the soccer match was about to start. Another fabulous dinner, more chess to finish the day.

David may have forgotten to mention that we have no HOT water in our rooms. You spoon water into the toilet to flush and the shower is in the same room as the toilet. We have to physic ourselves up to have a shower, fortunately its really hot. The food is and the kids have run them out of

yogurt drinking the fruit smoothies. Isabella has a sore tummy today, to much fruit and chillies! Harry doing well with his tummy the tablets with all the good bacteria in them seem to be working well. I don insist he have the vitamin tablets I bought. Think hes getting enough with all the fruit drinks hes having. The only downer is he has developed a taste for the garlic toast they have and so far has had it for 3 meals. Think we are going to suffer somewhere along the way.
