Koh Phi Phi Island
Livvy and Em on our day trip to Koh Phi Phi Lay...including the famous Maya Bay where they filmed 'The Beach'...officially the best day we had in South Thailand!!! *Please check out our Bangkok blog previous to this...
South Thailand, the place of beautiful white sand beaches, crystal clear waters, tailor made suits, a little bit of monsoon rain and Love Songs till midnight....actually 24 hours a day!
Route;
Bangkok to Phuket by plane
Phuket to Ao Nang, Krabi by the scariest mini-van driver in history - yeah you pump those brakes!
Ao Nang to Koh Phi Phi in wild monsoon rain by boat, not a fun journey
Koh Phi Phi to Koh Samui by boat - bus - boat
Phuket; 5 nights, 6 days
Ravaged little lobsters. # Note using tanning oil by mistake on winter fresh lily-white skin...ouchy, not a good idea at all. Monsoon rain dampened our already low spirits as we battled a deadly tropical illness...(ok slightly dramatic, but we both caught a fever-pitched flu!)
Saw our first thai sunset on Karon beach - they sure know how to make a good sunset in Thailand....stunning!!!
Ao Nang; 4 nights, 5 days
Huge limestine cliffs towering over white sand beaches, and aqua clear waters...we were actually here, after finally leaving Maui (commercial Phuket)....and arriving in this spectacular paradise. The gateway to everything beautiful
Phuket
This photo says it all for Phuket unfortunately...by the pool and feeling sick...poor Livvy Lou and extraordinary...we celebrate our first night with a beer and a sunset...long may this new tradition continue.
Koh Phi Phi; 4 nights, 5 GLORIOUS days
PARADISE!!!!!...after a bit of a shaky start with the worst boatride through wild monsoon rain which soaked us to the bone, the clouds parted and there she was. Ironically on this wild stormy day we hear the strains of Celine Dions 'My Heart will Go On' three times...
Beautiful, beautiful Koh Phi Phi. We stayed in a quiet wee bay where the people were so friendly they became our family. A lot of construction is underway post-tsunami down here, but otherwise you would never know it had happened.
Defining moment; Eating delicious thai cuisine in the candlelit restaurant with giant crabs scuttling under our feet, 'The Beach' movie begins to play, and we realise we are living the reality. We look at each other, grin and knock our Heinekin's together.
Koh Samui; 5 nights, 6 days
Back to Maui...and extreme 'Love Songs til midnight'...our day starts wth fresh fruit and Britney Spears, followed by sun, sun, sun and fun times...
Shopping here was great, we met up with our lovely Lithuanian friends
Phuket
Cute little Thai boy playing in the creek at the end of Kata Beach, Phuket. from Ko Phi Phi, 'Gold' and 'Amber' (translated into english as we couldn't pronounce their real names). Fun nights out dancing, and fun days exploring.
Next stop...Chiang Mai, north Thailand
