A very slow start to the day. Hey we’re on holidays, who cares. Do a lot up catch up on the diary and watch air crash investigations – getting on a plane tomorrow – awesome choice!
Go for a general wander down the beach and finally take up one of the ladies offers for a MASSAGE. Nads and I get an hour for 500BHT. Actually does some good, freeing up those really tight calf muscles from days of walking. Cracked the ladies up, as while I was lying there, I cried out “You want massage later perhaps?”
Afterwards we wandered up to the big shopping centre that we saw closed the time before. Nothing really exciting to see. We also passed a centre of endless mini bars that seemed to try and out do each other in exciting names. We ended up at a bar on the corner of Bangla Road called Margaritas which was really quite good. Nads had a lychee cosmopolitan and I had some beers. Wandered back to the hotel via the seven eleven, where we bought some snacks and some weird beers to try. While we were in there it started to really rain, but fortunately the
Blueray?
This is a belt made out of Manta Ray skin and dyed blue. Hence... shop was literally right next door to the hotel. We still got offered a taxi between the two places.
Went to the others room and watched the rain come down for an hour or so. Tried my noodle soup that was great, but Nads thought hers was too spicy.
We then piled on a bus to go to sea the Phuket Fantasea extravaganza. The bus took us north through a different part of Phuket for about an hour until we arrived at this theme park that it apparently 180 acres in size. We had a buffet tea in a huge dining room where they had a pretty broad selection of salads, stir fries, desserts and even some Japanese cuisine plates. We then proceeded into the show where they had the most stringent restrictions on filming and photographs. All phones, cameras and other devices had to be shown to the camera, checked into a cloak room. Nads tried to get her phone through, but they patted her down and made her submit that too.
The show itself was pretty spectacular, with up to 20 elephants on stage at one time, torrential downpours live on stage, UV trapeze artists right above the
audience (especially the one with hungry bum syndrome), elephants walking through the audience, magic tricks with tigers and even trained goats and chooks! The only thing that it lacked was a story linkage, but maybe if you know the Thai legends better and might know some of the back story. Nads and Elli said the highlights were the cup of teas and the little cakes at the buffet, but the pink one was all gone before they could try it. Patting the baby elephants and Georgie and Elli getting their photo with the baby tiger was also cool.
Home on the bus and repacking for a very early start the next morning.
