i just ended my 5 days trip to phuket. stayed over at karon beach area. karon is a very much more quiet area as compared to patong.
no fastfood, no starbucks, no shopping malls and hardly any noisy bars! stayed over at
karon cafe & inn, which is along the street where two chefs restaurant is located. cost me about 5.5k baht in total for 4 nights stay, inclusive of late check-out at 6pm. the service of the staff are good although communication can be a challenge daily. if you're just looking for a place to sleep, i guess it's nice & cosy enough 😊
tuk-tuk/taxi from karon to patong (if you're craving for some fun), it's 300 baht and same for the way back. a trip to Phuket Big Buddha is about 700 baht. not sure whether it could have been cheaper but it sure is worth the money. the scenery and view is
SUPERB!! food & drinks wise, it's cheap. definitely. the best recommendation is this
red onion restaurant. i'm bad with directions... once you head out to road perpendicular to the street (which karon cafe or two chefs restaurant is located), turn left and head
towards the direction of wat karon. you'll see red onion restaurant (can't miss it, it has a red onion!!) on your left.
the weather was stormy during the first 2 days of my stay, and subsequently oven baking hot, definitely a good place for a tan, but with good sunscreen (very important, as the sun can be very scorching).
