Hello Everybody!



Just a quickish update.

Im leaving the Gibbon Rehabilitation Project on the 22nd(this sunday).

My last message was a bit of a rant so just to say that they have all been really good and i have loved being here, and would def consifder coming back!

There will be pics at some point but this computer is sooooo slow that it wont be for a while probably!



I have been to Patong and Phuket town and a beach that i cant remember the name of! (I will look it up) and also been out in Patong for a night out with two other english girls and 6 of the Thai staff here! Oh and an English boy thats been here for 5 months and thinks he is thai now! haha

They have bars that they set up and hwne you come back another night it could be somewhere else, its funny! There are loadsa bars and ladyboys and lots of things always going on in the towns. This is low season so I cant imagine what its like in high season!



Sooo a few funny things.....? Few cultural differences etc..The Thai people dont have big busts, and one of the girls brought a dress that she had to cut open because her boobs didnt fit in it! and all the Thai people keep asking me if ive had a boob job which I think is really funny! Dont know what they would think about people who have actually got big boobs! lol. One of the staff has decided he is in love with me and brings me flowers each day and says 5 days to go...counting down when im leaving etc! Kinda freaky but everyone including the Thai staff find it so funny! And i got seranaded with I can be your hero (enrique) coz they LOVE singing and cheesy songs out here! (This kinda thing happens all the time with volunteers by the way)



So although I havnt really been around a lot of places! There is loadsa funny stuff going on, and im off to travel around from Sunday so will be more interesting!



Im in love with one of the Gibbons TAM coz she only has 2 fingers and one foot! There are pics on the website, but she is lovely!

Grooming through the cage. Tam (light one)only has 2 fingers because she was beaton by her owner and then given away. Her new owner put her in a cage with other gibbons without introduction so they bit off her other 3 fingers :(

can tourists visit the center and if so how do you get there from phuket town . my wife and i will be in phuket in 4 weeks and she loves that kind of animal interaction

Gibbon Rehabilitation Project
Hello, if you ask for a taxi to the national park, Bang Pae waterfall, the Gibbon rehabilitation centre is in there! What I do is working and volunteering there so there is less and less human contact with them. You can get loads of information and see a few at the front because they can never be released into the wild, but there is a no contact rule because we hope to put most of them back into the wild. There is just one because she only has 2 fingers and we have to apply medication to her fingers that volunteers have to give! Hope that helps! x
