You can get away from it all in Phuket
Today we went to a National Park on the north of the island, Khao Phra Thaeo. During the rainy months June-December this is a river with beautiful falls, but since it has hardly rained here since December we walked along a nice creek in the rain forest. We were the only ones there and had a calm relaxing walk. It is fun walking in the rainforest and all along our walk we saw lots of beautiful butterflies in all colours and sizes. We tried to take pictures, but that was not very successfull, but there are lots on Flickr. So we see it is possible and will try again some other time.

Really good, but very, very, very spicy food at the market
Here in Kata you can get food from all over the world, especially are they advertising Scandinavian food here. I have not tried that yet, but we have two places that is definitively worth a visit. One is local thai food at a small place next to the market in Kata. If you go here make sure to say that you like it “Falang spicy”. Falang is slang for somebody/something that has a western origin. Once you are in front of the market, look for the restaurant with the yellow kitchen. See picture. We also found a good Italian restaurant here that is reasonably priced, La Trattoria. The chef is Thai, but was trained by an Italian... just like eating in London! 😊 Oh.. and the red wine is อร่อย (see thai lesson below)

Study, Study and instructor course starts on Monday
Now we have all the PADI material (and that is a lot for this course), have read manuals, books and articles, watched movies, done quizzes and tests and discussed and discussed some more, so we should now be prepared to start the course. We are 8 doing the course together, so that should be fun. The two examination days are on the 14 and 15th of April... then we are planning for a HUGE night out!

So hopefully we should be PADI instructors soon. Fingers crossed. If you don’t hear from us for awhile, you know what happened...

After that we need to start working and make some money! Think we might try to stay in Thailand, but then probably
Walking along a creek in Khao Phra Thaeo National Park
on the east coast as the season is ending here in the west. Thinking Koh Tao maybe.. BUT if you know somebody out here, or have some good ideas for where to go OR just would like to have a say, let us know!

Moved room so we have now internet connection from the room! YES 😊 So pictures is already online on flickr. See ya online!

Thai lesson two:
อร่อย
pronounced: a raawy
Translation: delicious; delectable; tasty

Helloooo!!!
Hi there. I'm a friend of Oli - back in the UK - Tina... I love your blog... I noticed you have some google ads - have you managed to generate any money from them? Me and Paul are also in our 30's - no mortgage, no kids... thinking of doing what you are doing, but currently don't have enough funds, and currently too afraid to leave our businesses behind... Your blog has been an inspiration.... I also have a blog www.escapengland.blogspot.com - I'll put a link to your blog on there... maybe you would be kind enough to put a link to mine on your blog?? I'm glad Oli has met some nice people there in Phuket.... Bye bye and good luck with your instructor course...!!! Tina a.k.a Freedom Seeker or Freebirdpro

good ideas for where to go?
Good to see that you are enjoying the good life with warm weather and nice food. We are now soon leaving Amsterdam, already resigned my job and the flat on notice too. Departure date is 7.May. We might go traveling to Asia in August for about 45days, so don't be surprised to see us around! When it comes a good place for working as dive instructors. I would suggest Hainan island, Chinese territory, a bit off the beaten track. Not many western tourists there, no Western charter flights yet, but it is close to HongKong. $$$! Chinese economy is doing well, Hainan is a nice island with clear waters and warm weather. Growth potensial for dive instructors is bigger for Hainan than Thailand where the competition is already fierce.

Re. Study and then some fun around on Koh Phuket
Hi Freedom Seeker Tina, Thank you for your nice words. www.travelblog.org is a free blog tool, unfortunately we cannot control the advertising nor add link to friends. We have considered to use another tool for blogging, but for now we are too settled in on this one. AND we have no time, need to focus on the instructor course.. :) I have been reading your blog and you have interesting articles and I will watch your blog with great interest. Hope Paul and you will make it to out and about soon! :) Just do it, if you regret you can always just hop on the first plane home. See you, Nina
