Night Out
After a few and going for a few more! Well our final week in Krabi was a very relaxed and chilled affair. We spent most of the days either relaxing on the beach or at the guesthouse and we never did make it to the elusive Tiger Cave Temple!!
Having been here five weeks it was always going to be hard to say goodbye to Krabi in order to get on the bus back to Bangkok before heading on a plane to Bali.
As soon as we booked the bus and the staff at good dreams worked out we weren’t going to be staying ‘ just one more week’ they made plans for us. Wednesday night we went around to Chilling bar where Noi also worked. They had arranged for another of good dreams guests - John- to DJ at Chilling for the night. We had a lot to drink including a couple of shots that were bought for us. I think they had baileys in them which is never a good idea for me!! We chatted for a while with the guesthouse owner and spent some time playing pool, then just sat by the bar with the girls and the DJ chatting.
The following day Noi had
arranged to cook us lunch before we got on the bus at 4pm. Considering we didn’t leave the bar until 3am and she was still there I’m not sure how she managed to get up and cook! I certainly didn’t feel like getting up! We eventually checked out an hour late and sat downstairs awaiting lunch - I was nursing a large bottle of water whilst Mark had already had Pad Thai and tea at about 8.30am - think he was still a little inebriated!!! Noi served a lovely lunch of vegetable and crab meat fried rice, green curry and filled omelette. With Mark having already eaten and me feeling a little fragile we had some and decided to take the rest on the bus with us for a snack later on. It was sad to say good bye and when the song thaw picked us up all the staff from good dreams were there to say goodbye to us and give us a hug!
The song thaw arrived to transfer us to where the bus was leaving from - yes we had done what we had said we wouldn’t - we had bought a ticket that included pick
up from the hotel and a coach rather than go to the bus station. But the way I was feeling I was just glad to be on a bus where I could lay my head back and shut my eyes!! The bus journey was OK except for the very loud American guy sitting behind us who just loved the sound of his own voice - not sure the rest of the bus did! I really felt sorry for the german girl sitting next to him as she had tried to get rid of him when they got on the bus as they had been at the same guest house but he choose to sit next to her when he got on the bus and proceeded to talk for the majority of the bus journey. A few glares from various people around the bus and the fact that the girl next to him fell asleep (or was pretending but cant say I blame her) that he eventually shut up! An overnight journey where I managed to sleep on and off and Mark managed most of the night ended back in Bangkok near the Khao San Road at 5.30am. We made our
way the short walk to the Khao San and booked ourselves into the hotel above one of our favourite bars - less distance to walk then! So we settled back in for our last two nights in Thailand. After a very broken nights sleep we decided to get some rest and as the room had no windows it was very easy to sleep in pure darkness.
Lots of Pad Thai and Chang later, and a stop to my hairdressers we boarded our bus to the airport at 9 AM on Sunday. It was a very speedy ride to the airport with Thailand’s answer to Jenson Button, which nearly had me seeing my breakfast again!! We were quickly through check in and passport control to wander around the small but well designed and modern airport. It wasn’t long before we were boarding the plane and laving Thailand behind. Not sure what to expect in Bali we are definitely sad to leave Thailand as it holds good memories and friends we have met along the way. It is time for a new place and new things but we will definitely miss Thailand.
