I know it's not normal for your mum to come and join you on your honeymoon, but then I suppose this isn't a normal honeymoon ...!

Mum texted us saying she'd been looking at flights and how would we feel about her arriving on Wednesday (it was Friday!). YES! was the reply and before we knew it we were at Krabi airport watching mum's plane land!

Despite the fact she's had hardly any sleep and had been travelling for 14 hours, mum was on top form and happily went along with our suggestion to get out of Krabi and go to beautiful Railay beach.

We got into a fantastic routine for the next 5 days - our mornings were spent by our pool at the Diamond Cave Resort with it's rather impressive backdrop, we then had lunch at one of the many beachfront restaurants, the afternoons at spectacular Phra Nang beach, entertained by monkeys, a wedding, sunsets and our supply of chilled Singha beers. More beers, the occasional Sang Som rum/whiskey, a Thai massage, a few rounds of cards (a game many of you know, but mum has rechristened Sh'ed due to it's unsavoury name!) and an evening

It was a long trek up here (Shazza-remember?), but well worth it for this view.
meal. No wonder we were so exhausted each evening!

We very nearly spent the whole of mum's stay in Railay, but we decided to make it a 'twin centre' experience. Off to the Tsunami-struck Phi Phi islands. We stayed in bungalows on Long Beach - one of the beaches not seriously hit by the waves. We spent a great day on a longtail boat going round the whole of Phi Phi Don and Phi Phi Lay (the uninhabited one where 'The Beach' was filmed). We snorkelled, swam and sunbathed, amazed at the turquoise sea and multicoloured fish. They're very beautiful islands.

Mum had always wanted to ride on the back of an elephant, so her final day in Thailand, the three of us went trekking in the jungle near Krabi and had a wonderful time with these amazing creatures. Please notice that Nige is bare-back riding.

We managed to squeeze a lot in to those 10 days, and then sadly waved mum off at the airport ...

... and went straight back to the beach!

Hopefully, by now, you're getting the idea that we saw a few good sunsets. This one with a special feature of Nige flying a kite.

You see a monkey, and you just have to get a photo. Especially with the cute little 'un hanging on.

Who's gonna post a comment now your mum's there?
I thought I should! Your mum posts comments all the time so I thought I should fill the gap! Not long now till you're home. It's still cold over here so unless you bring a heat wave with you, be prepared for a shock. Can't wait to see you guys. Have a safe journey back. x
