Monkey Friend on the East Coast
Hello Fellow Canadians, Family and Friends!!
You are probably wondering when I am going to stop blogging but I actually quite enjoy re-counting the events of our holiday ( and I also like sitting in the air conditioned internet cafe!)

As we near the end of our vacation we have been venturing out on some excursions to near by destinations:

4-Island Snorkel/Tour Trip
We stopped at some beautiful spots for snorkelling and swimming. A highlight was the "Emerald Cave" where we swam in a long line hanging on to the lifejacket of the person in front of us and ended up coming out the other end into a lovely emerald green pool oasis surrounded by high mountains and open sky! It was pretty amazing. We had a great day on the boat travelling in and around numerous islands and ended up coasting back along the west coast of Koh Lanta on the way home. Buffet lunch was set up on one of the beaches and was very tasty.

Railay Beach
We travelled one day to the city of Krabi to do some visa business and then took a 40 min. long boat ride to the famous "Railay Beach".

Tsunami Shelter Signs
Those of you who have been to Thailand will know it and if not, it is a "must see". The limestone cliffs, large rock formations, turquoise water and soft white sand make it one of the most beautiful beaches in Thailand. Unfortunately it was a little cloudy the day we were there so my photos won't be a spectacular, but I managed to find a bit of blue sky for some pics. a little touristy but worth the visit.

Phi Phi Islands
We had an amazing day on Koh Phi Phi. This is the island that had some of the worst damage as a result of the tsunami in 04. Surprisingly everything is built back up with lots of construction going on. It is a little touristy but there is lots of Thai culture present. There is a maze or little narrow streets lined with shops, street kitchens, bars, etc. The scenery around the island is stunning to say the least. We took a long boat tour/snorkel trip to Blue Lagoon and Monkey Bay. We had lunch on the beach where the famous movie "The Beach" with Leonardo DeCapprio was filmed. It was very exciting for us to see

Snorkelling Trip
it. The water was a beautiful crystal clear aqua marine blue so perfect for snokelling and it looked just like the movie scenes!!

As mentioned before we have enjoyed the local people and culture here on Koh Lanta. We have met some wonderful people:

Bel - a lady who runs a little restuarant. She works from sun up to sun down. Her and family and friends always seem to end up there. She has a reputation of helping anyone in need. She lets her sister sell her chicken at the front and has numerous neices and nephews from Bangkok who stay with her during summer holidays. She also does laundry and rents scooters. We ate many meals at her place and visited when she wasn't busy. She has learned english just through speaking to tourists!

No Name Sisters - These girls have a road side Thai restaurant. They have the absolute best Thai Noodle Soup with Pork!! I think we have had a bowl for lunch every second day! They don't have a name for their place so everyone calls it "No Name"!

Danny and Gleen - They run a little restaurant and massage place on

the beach. Danny is the owner and Gleen works for him. She is 31 years old. Her husband is a fisherman on a nearby island and her parents look after their two children on the island so she can work in Koh Lanta in order to make ends meet. They had a special birthday party for Danny one night with free food. Birthdays are a big deal here in Thailand.Warren takes informal Thai cooking lessons from Danny!

Bob Thailand (Marley)
This guy was fun!! He runs a restaurant and bar with a reggae theme. Never been to Jamaica but watches on T.V. and replicates the decor along with Thailand dreads!

Vicki and Pu - The girls that work in the office at our resort. Both 23 years old and such fun and friendly people. Warren loves to tease them. They would like to save their money and come to Canada.

Boy - Serves us breakfast every morning always with a smile!

Law - the guard at the resort. Very fun guy and lifts the gate up for us when we scoot in!

We went to a farewell party for some Swedish people that have been
