Oh my! Phi Phi is just as beautiful as last year, if not more so. It is a little more built up, but not really as bad as I'd heard it had become. This time we decided to do a couple fun dives and I'm SO happy we did. We went out on a nice sunny day- it had been raining for a couple weeks straight before we got there. But on the way to our dive site the clouds starting rolling in, looking to the island that was our destination (Bida Nai) was like a scene from Jurassic Park, this island in the middle of no where covered in a secretive mist full of unknown wonders and adventure.... then the rain started. At first just lightly but then it got heavier and heavier til all the divers and staff were huddled in the dry deck waiting til we were to the sight. Well we jumped in amidst the big waves and rain and actually found that the water was warmer than being outside. We descended down to about 20ish meters and found that the visibility was not great- only about 10 meters- but still looked beautiful none the less.
Not MORE stairs!!!
yeah... they never end :( After about 2 minutes of swimming along the bottom we saw a sea snake, I was extremely excited b/c I had never seen one while diving- only from the surface in Borneo last year- he was swimming along in some staghorn coral so we only had a few glimpes of him but it was still really cool. Then after that we came through a little canyon and to our delight found a Leapord shark. She was gorgeous, about 6 feet long and instead of taking off she kinda circled around and back again to us so we got a really good look, she was close enough at one point that I could have reached out and touched her, but I have sense enough to leave dangerous predators alone. So after that everything else was a little dull but still some really great dives. Lion fish were everywhere, all different types and colors, and still tons of the normal and more unusual reef fish. Luckily when we came up it wasn't raining anymore so we went to a little bay for some snorkeling and lunch during our surface interval. I jumped off the top of the boat and swam all around

yes! made it up the stairs at last! looking for all the cool fish, found a wrench on the bottom that I gave to the captain and then found a cool cave that I dove down and swam through. We then went out to the other island Bida Nok for our second dive and just relaxed as our DM(divemaster) did all the work of changing our gear to a fresh tank. We got to the bottom and againg saw many new and beautiful fish and another leapord shark that this time was sleeping on the bottom. So we all posed for pics with her and then left her there in peace. After another few minutes I was lagging behind and saw our videographer filming some cool fish so I went to take a look... well I got there and didn't see anything but then suddenly another sea snake (the 6th most venomous snake in the world) swam by. So this time without any hesitation I snapped a few pics and GRABBED him (nevermind all that stuff I said about leaving dangerous predators along =). I was so happy! Me holding a very deadly snake at the bottom of the ocean. Don't worry though, sea snakes are extremely docile
Cat
It's what's for dinner and even if mad they have rear-hinged fangs so it is hard to get a solid bite into a
human. Well I needed proof of this wonderful event so I juggled my large camera and this deadly snake and managed to take a decent enough picture of myself (well my hand) and it. I then released the little guy (he was just a small one) and quickly swam to find the group. So overall 2 wonderfull dives, lots of cool fish, 2 sharks, 2 snakes and not much work on my part since the dive shop did all of that for us.
The next day we did a snorkel trip around the island and then went cliff jumping which we had done last year. This time I went a lot higher up with Adam and we launched ourselves off into the blue amidst all these huge jellyfish. As soon as we were back we had to hurry and get our stuff and jump on the ferry to Krabi to head to Koh Tao. Phi Phi is such a wonderful island, I look forward to getting back as much as possible.
