At the beginning of 2008 two of us were discussing cars while John was reading his Classic Car magazine and read out an advertisement asking for entrants to take part in the re-run of the greatest and longest endurance rally of all time the 1968 London to Sydney race, which was won by Andrew Cowan in a Hillman Hunter now a classic car. We decided to enter. We were the last group to get off the boat and on the way many different forms of boat transfer were seen.

The beautiful beach

We seemed to have found a place that was quite quiet and well away from the maddening young crowds that swarmed in and around Tonsai.

This was a bar in Tonsai much needed!

We had decided to try and walk back to the hotel which involved a walk along a beach, over a hill onto another beach and then along to our hotel. Our endeavours were foiled because we found ourselves without a path and climbing a very, very steep jungle clad hill. Turn around we did to reach this bar and sanctuary. Still it was good exercise and a nice try!
