Silje ans Ida
Pronounced Celia and Ede, my new friends from Norway Hello all!
Well ast night was a blast! i met my new friends down on the beach which had been transformed for the night and looked magical! We had dinner, sank a few cocktails and just as we were about to order another drink there was a huge clap of thunder followed almost instantly by heavy rain. We jumped up and headed for the English BAr which was about a 5 minute walk from the beach and in the process got completely soaked! when it rains here it rains hard! We had to bail into another bar half way along as the rain was so heavy, but we didnt mind too much as they serve mind blowing Banana Daiquiries here! he rain died a little so we braved it across the street which was fast becoming a river and fell into the English Bar. The girls are really fab and speak perfect english which helped! we talked and laughed the night away and were stranded in the bar for 4 hours whilst the monsoon took hold. During that time a dog hobbled in and lay at my feet. She was heavily pregnant and clearly quite sick. A few people knew
Shaggy the dog
She came in and lay at me feet during the storm. the dog and filled me in on her situation. She has been living on the island with no apparent troubles till recently. This being a Muslim island they are not happy about dogs peeing in the street etc so they told me the dog had not only been abused physicaly (hence the limp and loss of the use of its back left leg) but she may also have been poisoned. She has been throwing up everything she eats or drinks and is exhausted. The rescue centre in Phuket have offered to take her as long as someone can get her off the island and over to Phuket. I couldn't understand why someone hadn't done this yet, but it seems these guys all work 24/7 and cant just hop off the island. So, you know me, i cant stand these things so i told the i would take the dog back to Phuket with me tomorrow. I told the owner of the bar, an English guy, i want the rescue people waiting at the dock when i arrive to take her straight to the vet. she cant walk and will have to go in a cart or crate. The only difficulty
The girls again!
holed up in a bar during the storm is that the captain of the ferry is also muslim, which means we have to cover her up in the crate! she will be allowed on but cant be noticed. i am meeting the owner of the bar Gary tonight to set everything up. So imagine it, HUGE back pack, day sack bag and dog.....its never dull is it!!
Sorry for the short blog yesterday, it took 30 minutes to upload 12 pics!
hence no pictures today, but i will upload as soon as i promise.

Jamie, your mesage almost made me cry. almost! Monica on the other hand was blubbering!
dan and Keith, My Harriet is an Abbie! i need a Wendy heeeeelp!
The damage from the Tsunami is still present here in some places. The beach i photographed yesterday was completely wiped out and when i was shown the height of the wave
Three girls!
Yes i know i am red - can someone photoshop this please? against the hill, i think i stopped breathing. There is a lot of building work going on and new signs errected guiding you along the tsunami evacuation route.
The girls recommended a place for breakfast a short walk from my bungalow which had the walls plastered with the post tsunami pictures. It was mind blowing and completely humbling. Most of the pictures however were showing the travelers clearing up the mess and arriving to help out. The message above read "What are we to save if we do not have love. Thank you to all of you for everything you have done"
Now THAT made me cry.
The girls went over to Phuket this morning, we were sad to part but they hope tp come to london next year to stay with me. I have to say i think the angels kept me in a sort of solitude for long enough to really really appriciate the gift that was Eda and Celia. i have learnt to appriciate everyone that comes along, they are all sent for a reason!
Well i am signing off now to get ready for sundowners on the beach. The sunsets here are purple and pink, a beautiful and mezmorizing site, and there is no way i am missing a second of it! xx
