Hello again,
So as I mentioned we went out with the diving lot to have drinks and a meal, it was all going swimmingly until the guy with the video turned up..... Granted the video was really good but the guy was asking 50quid a copy and when we told him we couldnt afford it he got very arsey which was a bit annoying considering we never asked to be filmed. We all felt a little annoyed at how the meal had ended so we all standardly decided to get drunk to forget about it. We had a brilliant night which involved most of the group swimming in the sea and me being far too friendly (in a non gay way) to a dutch guy who I had never met.
Having had a brilliant time in Koh Tao it was time to head to Koh Phangan (with sore heads) for the infamous full moon parties, anyone who hasnt heard of these must have had their head in the sand but incase you havent, check it out on youtube.... its pretty insane.
We arrived on the island 2 nights before the "main event" and checked into our accommodation which
we had pre booked, it was a little out the way but the views were pretty special as we were high up in the jungle. The owner was pretty helpful and he had a cool little pet monkey who had a bit of a liking for Heather. We went down to my uni mate dave's accomodation which was about 30 min on foot. Having had a decent dinner we went down to Haad Rin (the beach where the party is held), although it wasnt the main full moon night it was still pretty crazy (all of the pics I took were from the first night), there were fire shows, bodypainters and a massive foam cannon (which heather and Sarah (daves girlfriend) fully embraced!), all I could keep thinking was how crazy was the main night going to be!
The next day was spent chilling out and nursing a small hangover, until it was consecutive night out number 3, we met up with our diving friends in a restaurant and had dinner followed by ring of fire on the beach with many large changs being supplied by a little woman who was selling them for 50bht a pop, cheap cheap!
More drunkeness and dancing followed and it was clear haad rin was filling up.
The next day was pretty similar (surprise surprise) we didnt do much until about 4pm then we went into Haad Rin to get geared up for the Full Moon Party (t shirts, pre drinks, cash, the essentials basically). We had pre drinks at Daves beach front bungalow and headed into Haad Rin at around midnight. We had to pay to get in which was a bit naff but it was only 100bht and we got a cool wristband so at the time it felt well worth it?!
The party was amazing, each bar was playing a different genre of music and we pretty much stuck to the drum and bass and dubstep bar all night, dancing till the sun came up. It was heathers first experience of dubstep but she managed to pick up skanking along to the music pretty well! Her and Sarah also wondered off and came back with some awesome flowers painted up their legs, one guy fully believed they were being tattoo'd, muppet!
By about 5:30am we were shattered and sat on the beach waiting for the sun to
rise, having seen that we quickly made our way to a taxi to get us to bed. We found Dave and Sarah again and jumped in a cab with them. It was a brilliant night and will not be forgotten in a hurry.
The next day was a very quiet one, we just went to an internet cafe to search our next destination, four big nights in a row had demolished us!
We had found a nice looking beach called Had Yao on the other side of Phangan so the next day we made our way there. We checked into High Life bungalows which was super nice, we had a lovely little bungalow and an infinity pool over looking the bay. We spent 3 nights relaxing in Had Yao with amazing sunsets and beautiful sunny days. One night we went to a rasta bar which was miles away from anywhere, it was completly dead and a bit freaky! The whole beach was pretty dead so we tended to stick close to the resort. One evening was spent watching the sunset on the beach which was really beautiful.
Our time in the gulf Islands was up and we
made our way to a place we had been reccommended called Railay on the andaman side, our journey consisted of a taxi, a boat, a bus, another taxi and finally a longtail boat! Everything went smoothly though and we arrived in Railay mid afternoon. As we were trying to find somewhere to stay I looked to my left and saw Dave waving at me! Small world! We ended up staying in the same resort which had a pool and a pretty big room all for a tenner a night, decent! We spent 3 nights in Railay and it had a nice chilled out vibe, the beach on the western side was really pretty and we spent most of our time relaxing and having food and drinks with Dave and Sarah, including an awesome pizza! On the last day we both got stung by jellyfish which wasnt the best but the sting only lasted a few hours.
So today we made our way to the infamous Ko Phi Phi, we are here for 3 nights and we then have one night in Phuket before making our way to Bangkok where we will be flying to Sydney to start the next
part of the adventure!
