Bottle Beach on Koh Pha Ngan
Last leg of Chapter 1 of our travels. We figured we earned a few days on the most beautiful beaches in the world after a tough 3 months travelling around South East Asia. Well deserved I think ye all will agree... So we arrived in Surat Thani airport early and only 3hrs boat from our final destination of Ko Pha Ngan but par for the course in Thailand it took us 7hrs to get there. Bus stopping on the side of the road trying to get us to eat, having to wait 2hrs for a boat as a result of this, and then having to get a tuk tuk and taxi boat to reach our beach of choice. But by Jesus was it worth it, the most savage beach we saw in Thailand, it was even on a par with Long Beach on the Perhentian Islands we both agreed!

Booked ourselves into a nice little 2 storey wooden bungalow on the beach and quickly forgot the stressful journey. We even bought a savage hammock and Kelly the handyman got some rope and managed to hang it for maximum comfort. Edel being the loving trusting girlfriend she is would

This is our 2 storey bungalow and hammock that Edel finally trusted enough and got into
not go near the hammock til day 2 cos she was 'absolutely sure that it was going to collapse cos you put it up'. She was proven horribly wrong as I spent a day rocking side to side with tremendous glee!

Spent all our daylight hours either in said hammock, on the beach or in absolute luxury in the calm warm sea. I spent 4 hours in there one day, it was amazing stuff. The nights were spent drinking Singha and watching old movies on a big pull down screen in a beach bar beside our bungalow. Here is where I got my worst hangover since Toh Koh Beach and spent a lot of the next day concentrating on not getting sick (a class feeling). Met an auld lad, who came here for a week and had been there 3 months. If anyone reading this is coming or even thinking of coming to Thailand and wondering about a good beach then this is the place I recommend most, nicest beach I've ever seen along with the Perhentian beach. Do it.

Oh yeah met a lad called 'Dream' who was really sound -for a while- but turned

out to be a bit weird. Making strange sucking noises and commenting on Edels 'sexy body' while I was in Singha world up at the bar. He later told us he was from Krabi but on the run from Thai police cos he shot someone in Krabi. His wife was paying off the police every month at home to not find him. This dampened the mood and our trust in him needless to say and we spent the last few days avoiding him like a queer in a jacuzzi.

Spent as long as we could on Ko Pha Ngan before leaving for a few days on Koh Tao. Had planned on doing a bit of diving there but woke up with a headcold the final day on Koh Pha Ngan so that idea went out the window (think it was from spending 4hrs in the ocean-warm or cold thats probably gonna happen!) Koh Tao was absolutely crazy crazy heat and struggled to even make it off the boat with our bags. Jumped onto the back of a jeep then but had to sit on our bags cos jeep too hot to touch! Anyway arrived on the beach which

was nice but we had been spoilt with our previous beach. Spent a couple of days bumming around Koh Tao and enjoying the last days of cheap food and beer before Koala country. Boat to Koh Samui, then to Surat Thani then bus to Krabi, from there back to Singapore again (which we found incredibly expensive after seeing the rest of asia but didnt notice at the start of our trip) Then flight from Singapore to Perth only to be welcomed by a cold cloudy day and pissing rain. Thought I was back in Dublin. Now to get some jobs and cash together for the big Australian tour expected to start in August or September. So that'll be the next update on this blog, hope ye all dont miss our fascinating tales too much.....
