Kho Phangnan
squid boats at night Well here it is people the final entry on the old blog, yep my trip is coming to an end just like the mighty british empire did not so long ago! for some it will be with relief that they are seeing me going and others, well you'll probably hiding come the 24th of this month!
since loas, life has tacken on a slow pace, which i'm not complaining about as i know there's a shock waiting for me when have to embark on a very strange concept, which i think people call 'work'!! so i came back to bangkok, yep i hear you, 'surprise, surpirse'. on the morning i got back into bangkok i bumped into a couple from chester who i've kept bumping into ever since after cambodia, then in loas and again in thailand, it's a small world! they where of down south to the islands, so i said that if they were unlucky i might see them somewhere down there, and as unluck would have it for them i did end up on the same island as them!
i stayed in bangkok for a week, networking with the ex-pats, trying to hunt down some
Happy days!
it's tacken a while but ifound somewhere with good whiskey, every hobbits dream kind of employment for the future, and seeing friends. bangkok has truely become a home away from home, some people don't like the place, but for me it's amazing, completely of its head, organised choas, is probably a good way of discribeing it, if you took the choas out the whole place would collapse!
i also spent time researching about becoming an english teacher over here! okay stop the laughing, i know this might seem alittle strange, after you have read theese blogs and seen the appaulling spelling and grammer, and also knowing that i'm a dyslexic (see i can spell that) one would think that i'm not fit to teach, but i rekon i could do it! plus at least i would be teaching english, english, and not any other form, for example:
on a bus journey down to kho Phangan we stopped of for some food at around mid night. the food was astronomicley priced. so to solove the gapping hole that had appeared in my stomach i downed a couple of cans of luke worm chang (thai beer) and chain smoked, worked wonders! anyway i digress, ko taut (excuse me), there was an american couple
Songkran
khoa san road, ting tong mak mak that were not eating as well, so i thought i'd make small talk with them! turns out that they where teaching english in china. mybe it was alittle cruel of me to use english humour on them at this time of night, but i did it anyway! i placed the werm on the end of the hook and cast out,
'just out of interest, how to do teach the kids how to spell colour', okay a cheap shot i know, but i got the bite,
'c-o-l-o-r' the girl said
'okay, so how do you spell 'realise'?' i could feel that this was a big one, i could feel the weight on the end of the line
'r-e-a-l-i-z-e
'do you not think that's alittle unfair teaching kids 'bill gates' english, and not the queens english!' they failed to see the funny side of things, so before i offened them anymore i took the hook out and through them back in!
after bangkok it was time to goto the islands, to top up on the tan before coming back home! i managed to find a nice bungalow with a view out onto the beach, the place was really quite and
ace for chilling out! as luck would have it i had booked into the same bungalows as pete and becky the couple from chester! we managed to get a group of together, a couple from essex, some more people from chester turned up and just to spice up the mix a couple of crazy russians, who had a house on Kho Phangnan!
now i remember saying that i would never go to another full moon party again in my life, i think my words were 'if i wanted to goto ibiza, then i would of gone there and not made the long journey all the way to asia, just to see thousands of westerners on beach making tits of themselves', but i went back on my word! two days after arriving there was a full moon party, and everyone was going so i gave into peir pressure and went along anyway, and in all fairness this full moon wasn't as bad as the last one, as it's the end of the season in thailand there aren't as many people over here!! the rest of the time was spent chilling out during the day, having a meal at the russians house at night and then going and finding a party somewhere, which was never to hard to find as there is always a party some where on the island!
13th april, songkran (water battle), thai new year! so again i made my way back to bangkok, there was no way i was going to miss this! it's got to be the most crazy thing i've ever seen! in the south songkran is only 1 day, in bangkok it last's for three days and in chiang mai it can last anything upto a week! no one in thailand is safe during this festival, everyone is fair game, even the police, who have their guns rapped up in plastic! the aim is to soak as many people as you can. in bangkok the main area to celebrate is down the khoa san road, the place is rammed with people all intent on shooting each other with water pistols, and covering each other in flour! i would recommed this to anyone it's amense fun and you'll only find this kind of madness in thailand! i came of quite lightly after songkran i only had to infected toes and an ear infection, which i'm still nurseing!
i wont rabbit on to much longer as time is running out, and i of to enjoy my last night in bangkok! i would just like to thank all those people that i have met on travels, i wont mention names but you all know who you are! i'd also like to thank led zepplin, jimi hendrix and many more for supplying my soundtrack to my mission, and all the goats that i have met on the way! i'll shut up now, thank you for taking the time to read all the drivel that i've been spouting out onto this blog!
the hobbit is on his way back from india to nepal, thailand, cambodia and loas and then finishing of in the shire! DAM!
ps, i apoloigise for the poor pictures as i lost the usb cable for my camera, which also acts as the power supply so i wasn't able to take that many pictures!
